I love EBay. I enjoy buying, I enjoy selling, I enjoy searching, I enjoy it all. I even get entertained. So in the spirit of David Letterman, here is my Top 11 Things I've Enjoyed:
11. “nr” ((((When I was first on Ebay, it took me awhile to figure out that “nr” meant no reserve. I had it stuck in my head that it meant number. I even spent some time on Google searching for the meaning. Some people still use "nr" in the item title. I understand that high-price items often have reserves. But these items always never have “nr” or “no reserve” as part of the title. They include it in the description. And items which have an expected sale price of under $100 do not need a reserve.))))
10. "L@@K" or something like “MUUUUUST SEEEEEE” ((((Have I ever bought anything from anyone who used this in the item title? I don’t think so. Why is it L@@K and not just LOOK anyway?))))
9. "Rare" ((((When used correctly, this is fine. But when people overuse it, it becomes meaningless. I’ve used it a few times myself, but I hope I haven’t overused it. No, I'm sure I haven't.))))
8. "Nice!" or "Wow!" ((((This makes me cringe every time. I’ve seen a few sellers list dozens, or even hundreds, of items in a row and add this to each item. By the time I got to the end of their "nice" stuff, I had practically cringed myself into a tizzy.))))
7. 380048913272 - “The card looks good front and back but I am not a card expert.” ((((This is just one example of a seller who tells you he isn’t a professional grader. Hey, guess what? No one on Ebay is a professional grader. But some of us still have enough cojones to actually give grades to the cards we sell. Amazingly, after giving you their disclaimer, these sellers often then tell you the card's exact condition. With no guarantees of course.))))
6. 280248828016 - “Its not very often you see all original 24 lids being sold as UNGRADED but in GRADED condition.” ((((What?))))
5. 110283129546 – “SPACE CARDS #36,1952, RARE!,HOW OFTEN DO YOU SEE THESE?” ((((Well, if you had cared to do a search for 1952 Space Cards, you would know the answer.))))
4. 120298091027 – “Patton is in Execllent shape with no creaisng. I would say a 7 or 8 out of a 10.” ((((Which would make it the highest graded #183 ever! Everyone sing together, “I’m the King of Wishful Thinking.” Plus, this guy gets an F for spell-checking.))))
3. 190239350872 – “Two different non-sport cards. Will picture later.” ((((Does this guy ever sell anything.? Does he actually “picture” later?))))
2. 140261189301 - "Here is a very rare painting from the original Topps Chewing Gum trading card series CIVIL WAR, or a collectors refer to it as CIVIL WAR NEWS. It was painted by Maurice Blumenfeld who did the bulk of the artwork for the set. At the last minute it was excluded from the series, possibly because the company decided to use the space of card #88 as a checklist card. The actual artwork is in very good condition and measures: 3-1/4"x5-1/4". The entire "canvas" measures 5-1/2"x7-1/2" and has handwritten notes in pencil. This will probably be your only opportunity to own any of the beautiful artwork that was created for the CIVIL WAR TIMES series." ((((Wow. Here I thought Norm Saunders had done the art for CWN. Did I mention that EBay is not just entertaining, but informative too?))))
1. 230274563430 - "First let me say that if you have purchased single cards from me in the past, you know I am a strict grader. Haven't had one single card questioned on my grading so far. If I say the card is mint, it is mint. Check my feedback for confidence. I have perfect eyes close up. I grade cards daily and long before there were ever professional graders and price guides." ((((This is my favorite. She should be a diamond dealer! Her definitive statement about her grading skills and eyesight certainly inspires confidence, doesn’t it? Don't forget, she's never had a single card questioned on her grading. Never. Ever.))))

Alan---greatly enjoyed your list---by coincidence I had the exact same thoughts today on 5 & 3---how often do I see the Space cards? Every 2 minutes. #3--I have a great response to this one also, and I'll show it later.

Don't you know, everything listed on eBay as rare, is absolutely rare!
1. Collectible--only 100,000,000 were made.
2. Antique--I don't know where or when it was made. But, I pulled it out of a dumpster, so it must be antique.
3. Vintage--I keep getting these things from aunts and uncles, and they end up in the trash.
4. Rare--I probably have 2,000 of them in the attic. Haven't been up there for 20 years.
5. Unique--only one exists, I have 500.
