For those of you who don't collect cards of famous people this may not be for you, but you can still play along. Rank either your top 5 favorite historical figures who appear on vintage NS cards, or your top 5 personalities that have the most value. Showing some cards would be cool too.
My Top 5
1. Abraham Lincoln
2. J.E.B. Stuart
3. George Washington
4. Stonewall Jackson
5. W.T. Sherman

I do have a 19th century bias and there a number of ways to look at the rules and parameters for inclusion. I guess I went willy-nilly (for sure that's not spelled right but who would ever actually write that down anywhere?!).
Buffalo Bill - huge cross-over - plenty out there but even greater demand - iconic symbol of the wild 1800's
Geronimo/Sitting Bull - tie here - cards were nearly contemporary with the indian battles. These chiefs were on many people's lips. One remembers the cry "GERONIMO!" not sure about "SITTING BULL!" unless that's what the Republicans are doing now
U.S. Grant - while Washington and Lincoln are obviously important and well collected - Grant collected in many more categories of NS.
Thomas Edison - an amazing inventor - there might not be a lot of "CARDS" relating to him - but there's some other material within the general NS classification - and his stuff gets the big bucks. Besides - I REALLY love his signature.
P.T. Barnum - to me he personified what non-sports is. The consumate showman - he had it all - a little of this - and that - the hype - the substance - just like our hobby. Many ephemeral remains to found in many categories.
Honorable mention - Lillian Russell - as I had to add an actress given the wealth of cards and advertising devoted in the hobby to the women in theater, Annie Oakley and Mrs. Cleveland as famous women collected on their own.
(edited to add - I'll post a pic of each when time permits)
