Original artwork

I have recently bought some original artwork for a well-known British set of cards called Famous Escapes, issued by Mars Confections in 1937. You very rarely see original artwork on eBay or at auctions (or at least I don't). I think I remember seeing some reference somewhere to Civil War News and that the paintings were quite small. I was just wondering if the whereabouts of artwork for cards from sets like Civil War News, Mars Attacks, Batman, Horrors of War, Red Menace, Jets, Rockets, Spacemen etc are widely known among collectors? I would love to have one of the Civil Wars News paintings, but I imagine Norm Saunders paintings must fetch big, big money.

Brian---here's one from War Gum---besides being a hero, do you recall a unique feature of his?[IMG][linked image][/IMG]

Here's another one ---from the "V" Gum series of UK, but I don't believe I have ever seen an actual production card from the set--never issued?

In the links that Jeff S. provided to the REA offered original paintings, the second link is interesting. Look at the original painting, and notice how Topps added flame around the soldier in the middle being hit by the martian's ray on the issued card. I guess it wasn't scary enough as originally drawn by Saunders!

Here's some of Ricardo Garijo's original art from the H.G. Wells series (Time Machine and Island of Dr. Moreau). They are acrylic on 5 x 7 inch cardboard.

Here is my semi original artwork, with Wild Man #72
"The Future of Earth"
Ok, so don't get sore, so maybe it's not completely original at that.
