Mystery Cards

I have a set of non-sport cards that I am having a hard time identifying. I have looked pretty extensively on the web without much luck.
The set is of US Presidents from George Washington to William McKinley.
Each President has two cards containing various info on their terms, and each is numbered sequentially 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B and so on.
The set appears to have been printed pre-1901 because McKinley was assassinated in 1901 and his dates of service read "1897 - (blank)" whereas all the other presidents have starting and stopping dates for their terms in office.
They are very close in size, shape and material to standard playing cards with a drawing of the White House and Capitol rotunda on the obverse.
There are no logos or manufacturer's names anywhere I can find.
Any tips or suggestions of where to start researching would be greatly appreciated.
Please email any private messages to: johnfrum@hotmail.com
Thanks - Joe

Hi Joe. There were various card games produced by the Fireside company, which became or got bought by the Cincinnati game company, which I later think got bought by Milton Bradley. Think first sets started around 1896. There was one called 'In the White House', and this sounds like one of those iterations. I also think there were different versions of most of the game sets. I know I have a president set (missing 1 card) of 'A to D' cards for each president, and might also have same set you mention as sounds familiar. Will have to double check when home Sunday.

Wouldn't hurt if you could add scan.

Mike - Thanks for the tip - I found a completed sale on the Canadian Ebay for a set just like mine. They are indeed a Fireside Game Company product, "In The White House, No. 115".
The problem I had with identifying them was that I did not have the original box.
Thanks again for the help, Joe
