Canada produced a 60 card set called Action Series(aka Action Gum in the US). Cards 1-48 matched the first 48 cards of Action Gum, while the last 12(49-60) used images from First Column Defenders with matching back text. A red thumb like print was used on the V350's to blot out the First Column shield.

Richard---that's another nice set I've enjoyed---almost seems like the colors on the Canadian issue were more bright/vivid---HJJ used to mention that to me also. I don't think I have seen the FCD images in color before---thanks!

Richard, thanks for sharing.  I have a few low number Action Series cards, never saw the any of the highs that borrow artwork from FCD.  Very neat!

An update to an old post(they rarely make postings like this anymore sad.gif). The last 12 cards from V350 match 12 of the Goudey First Column Defenders including reverse story lines. Cards are numbered 49-60 and in order from top row left to right.

V350 #49 = R50 #4
V350 #50 = R50 #5
V350 #51 = R50 #10
V350 #52 = R50 #11
V350 #53 = R50 #15
V350 #54 = R50 #18
V350 #55 = R50 #19
V350 #56 = R50 #20
V350 #57 = R50 #21
V350 #58 = R50 #22
V350 #59 = R50 #23
V350 #60 = R50 #24

Quite difficult to track down, any collectors have all 12?

It is nice to be missed Chuck. Have been very busy. Have also purchased the copyright for "Checklist and Price Guide for U.S. Non-sport Wrappers" from hobby legend and regular good guy John Neuner, which I am expanding and updating and coloring in. regards jim

Great news Jim, I can't wait to see the new edition! How is John Neuner, is he still with us?

Chuck
John is not doing well, but doesn't like to complain.
He is still selling used light bulbs from the top of the Empire State Building,
Changing those bulbs must have been quite the rush, eh?
He left the hobby in 98 when he retired to care for his dad.
If he had kept his passion for wrappers a few more years, I think
the internet/ebay would have rewarded and astonished him.

Yes, I talked with him a few times way back when, seemed like a very nice fellow. I think I may have bought a few wrappers from him also.

V350 and the "Red Spot"

Hi Richard,

Do you know if World Wide Gum used the "red spot" on the first 48 cards copied from Goudey's R1 Action Gum or if they only used it on the last 12 cards copied from Goudey's R50 First Column Defenders?

Bill,
Only on the last 12 as to hide the FCD trademark shield. Cool to see a thread that was started nearly 3 years ago back to life. For those that are newer members, check some early postings. Chock full of great threads!
