Hi Ivan..Welcome to the Non Sport Forum!
No, should not be too hard. Everything is relative..if you only have a few hundred to spend..forget it..if you have more keep truckin. You may shop some of the sponsor auction houses here or in the links section. Perhaps pick up a nice set or partial. who knows?
Finding these cards raw is not a problem..finding the exact grades you want and completing that way will take you awhile.
No HIGH END or "rare" cards in this set. Just the basic premium for first card and last card.
Enjoy your hunt

First of all the 1965 Fleer Hogans Heroes set should not be not hard or expensive to collect.
I checked the PSA Pop. Report for this set. There have been 1,532 cards graded with following breakdown of cards at PSA6 or better:
PSA6 - 188
PSA7 - 462
PSA8 - 435
PSA9 - 44
PSA10 - 3
I'm not knowledgeable about the prices the cards from this set sell for, but I will share what I have paid for PSA graded cards from two 1960's era sets I do collect i.e. 1962 Topps Civil War News & 1967 Leaf Star Trek.
I have bought PSA5 cards for less than $5.00, PSA6 for less than $10.00, PSA7 cards for less than $15.00 & PSA8 Cards for less than $20.00.
My advice would be to set a budget, that is the highest price you will pay for a card in a given grade.
As a start I would suggest no more than $10.00 for a PSA6 & $15.00 for a PSA7, keep track of what prices cards from the set sell for and go from there. As you learn more you can adjust the prices you are willing to pay up or down.
Don't buy raw cards with the idea of getting them graded. Unless you are 100% sure a card will grade at 9 or 10, it is not worth the grading fees. Buy cards someone else has spent the money for grading.
Typically the first & last card plus the checklist card (I don't know if this set has one) sell for more.
Go forward slowly, until you are confident that your judgmemt of market prices is accurate.
Just some general advice & opinions. I hope I helped.

Very good Jerry. You said it better than I did. But he will not get it done at 10.00 to 20.00 a PSA card (7/8 are pretty nice cards,no?)for this set. I also looked at the pop report prior to responding. (always a good idea)
Easy cards..but high demand for any decent graded material. My point was to warn him before he spent a few ($500-$900)hundred as he said he wanted to finish set and it will cost more than that.
Thanks for jumping in Jerry. I feel bad for "newbie" folks (which I was not so long ago)posting here about 1960's issues and nobody replies to them.

Good luck at getting them for $10-$15 graded. Jerry I don't know if you know this set but you are looking at $10-$20 for good condition cards. I bought 22 beaters last week for $100. When I got them home I had every one of them.I have been collecting this set for 2 years and am far from finishing it. They rarely come up and when they do they are way way over priced.

Charley, I respectfully beg to disagree. Prices on PSA6/7 60's era cards are trending lower. I've been having a great old time buying CWN & Star Trek graded cards, PSA5 to 8, at low prices.
Demand/Prices on the cards is high at PSA9 or 10 due to competion from collectors trying for the No. 1 spot.
If you are patient & willing to wait until you can buy & the price point (In my case always low), you can get the cards inexpensively.
Just my opinion & what I have seen cards in the sets I collect sell for.

Hey Jerry,
I get your point. If you wait, watch, snipe, troll auctions, ebay etc. Yes, you probably will catch a few lower psa cards for $15.00 -$20.00 . I admire your skill and willingness to wait. However, this fellow is "new" (his words) and you could see the "non sport virus" spreading rapidly around his brain and wallet. He (like all of us in the beginning) is not a "skilled non sport playa" as the kids would say. He is already punching in bids and visualizing<? his complete psa Hogan's set!
<br>
Was not trying to p on his parade or in your direction, just wanted to throw some spike strips down to keep him from doing something stupid.
I wish folk had warned me. Heck, I wish I could get a reply when I posted almost the same question for N166's
thanks also tony, i agree
in regards to CWN. I have always maintained there is another find to be found. These cards are everywhere in everygrade. The star trek's, well...you'll have to teach me on that set. I have never seen those cards in my orbit for that type and year of issue. I can learn a few tricks I suppose. I always said that CWN is overated even if it is a staple in everyones collection.
Some cards do appear to be trending down and I agree that "top shelf" 9's & 10's are driven through the roof due to the registry. But there are soooo many non sports cards offered at rediculous prices on the net, ebay and at auction...there WILL be a correction.
Off Topic>>>>>
Rant>>>>>> Any ebay non sports seller starting cards or sets or boxes or wax packs at 10X their true worth...your only driving new folks away and as we can see by ebay store listings you get to keep the product and must relist and relist and relist...its just silly and us oldtimers are not buying in to it. In fact, it makes me not buy from you on other items that are near realistic. ok,ok, enough of me
Viva non sports.

Charley - Let them wait & not sell their stuff at exorbinant prices. After a few months of the relisting, make a low ball offer (Fair but not insultingly low) - get an angry or usually polite "NO". Wait for 6 to 8 more weeks. Lower your offer by 10 to 20%.
You'll get some "YES" answers.
Works often enough to make it worth while.
Slow but steady wins the race, or gets the set finished.
If money was no object I could probably finish the CWN set within a month, but what is the fun in that - getting them at bargain prices is the thrill of the chase. It's a great set - NOT overated, just plentifull. A great way to satisfy your collecting addiction when there are no 37 Ripley's BION or USHD high numbers up for sale.
The 67 Leaf Star Trek set is a tougher nut to crack. It is easier to get PSA5 Horrors of War cards than PSA5 cards from the ST set. IMHO it is one of the toughest 60's set to get.

In the Ripley's lot I only needed one card (No. 24), I have all the others. The Star Trek set isn't a high priority with me. I've been picking them up one at a time for "bargain" prices.

Has anyone checked out these guys on Etsy.com? They call themselves Mavericks In Boxland and it seems they are just starting to do some killer reproductions of the hardest to find boxes along with reproduction card sets... including the Fleer Hogan's Heroes. Obviously nothing will ever compare to the originals, but for a tiny fraction of the cost, you can display the Holy Grails daily until any of us are lucky enough to own the originals. These guys rock.
