these cards remind me of the sideways printed allen and ginter richmond straights silks that hit the market around 1996/1997. Just think they are hard to explain - although I haven't seen these "cards" in person and was able to examine the silks in person. The silks at least had all the requisite elements where the general cards are lacking history - production points - a story that makes sense. Very strange...... If I had to guess (which I suppose I did by not bidding on the generals - or buying the silks) I'd say fantasy - but examination of the stock and the inks with a loupe would likely provide the answer. I think they all went to Terry Jr. - perhaps he will chime in as it's his hobby too
(edited to add an afterthought in terms of the silks I mentioned ONLY - they might in fact have been an off-our-soil production despite the annomaly relative to the orientation of words to picture and the size of the medium in which they were presented - I'm still looking for a pic to show - any silk collectors out there?).

I have NO IDEA about this particular auction item ...
===========================================================
However, 2-4 years ago, a Gr. Britain seller was selling the booklet covers
in ebay....properly described as reprints. However, there was nothing on
the covers to indicate reprints. Also, there were NO staple holes. As best
as I can recall, the total offered was 25 - 30, but not 50.
I wanted to buy a batch, but felt that "someday", after I've met my maker,
someone would market them as originals.

After this post a few days ago, I tried internet searches looking for the
person from Gr.Britain who made/sold the reprints a few years ago ...nothing...

Hi Henry. They are unused covers. I bought agroup of about 200 booklets a long time ago (back when you could do that) and there were about 10 of these unused, unstapled booklet covers. I actually bought another from Wade Carsel 75 years ago or so. I personally think they are extremely tough to find.

of couse not 75 years ago as your dad not even that old . So they are unissued front covers without folds. Is the paper stock the same as the issued covers (color in scans inside look very brown)? Do they appear the same size as the original - appear to all be the same size - do they appear to be handcut? Sorry for all the follow-up questions - bet you wish you hadn't answered It can only help you, me, and the hobby in the long haul. Happy NY to you and yours BTW...........

Hi Henry. I meant 5 - 7 years, but the wide was in the middle of a tirade on putting the kids to bed. The stock is the same as the booklet covers and everything is the same size, with the lithography being exactly the same. It is literally a booklet that was not used in production for whatever reason. I have no idea how they might have ended up in collections with the typically issued booklets. The really neat one was the blank back unused booklet. I bought my couple unused covers from a collection in NJ also - maybe there is a connection there?
Thank you for the work you do on this board - along with all the other guys that post on a regular basis. Your work is appreciated!!!!
