I have received email from a collector that remembers the R773 Goudey
Indian cards being sold in a mom and pop store near the Goudey Bldg
in Alston Mass - 1958. He also remember a specific "yellowish" wrapper
that had the printing "MORE NEW NUMBERS TO FOLLOW". He has also
seen that wrapper as he completed his set by visiting collectible
stores and shows.
This, along with the story I posted awhile back...that I worked
with a fellow that swore he purchased the Indian Gum and Topps Wings
at the same time (mid 50s) in Cambridge Mass, a 5-10 minute ride
to the Goudey Bldg in Alston....confirms, in my mind, that Goudey
actually sold Indian Gum from 1933 through 1958. This thought was
posed by the collector that sent R773 email yesterday.
Are there any members or lurkers that grew up in the Boston area
buying Indian Gum in the years 1952 - 1958 ?
========================================================
As a side note, Mid 90s, I purchased approx 50 R73 green back Indian Gum cards
with their four borders removed--without a doubt machine cut.
Has anyone else run across a "lot" similar to these ?
I always felt these were issued in R773 wrappers, but have always
gotten negative feedback on that subject. I guess I have to find
some scenario where they were removed for other reasons.
Anyone want to wage a guess ?

Just received another email clarifying that in 1958, ONLY numbers
1-24 were issued. The 1958 wrapper indicated more series was
forthcoming, but it never happened.
The sender also stated:
"Chris Benjamin's THE SPORT AMERICANA PRICE GUIDE TO THE NON-SPORT CARDS
(1930-1960) PAGE 277 UNDER INDIAN GUM R773 quotes
THE CARD COLLECTOR'S BULLETIN for October, 1958 as follows:
"INDIAN GUM is out again. Same cards."
He states the the wrapper shown in R773, on the right, seems to be
the 1958 wrapper.
I wish we had more collectors from his/my generation, that would come forward and discuss their collecting days/memories.
