of a tough card from very difficult crossover set. 3/4 pose. Contrast as good as any HLC. One of Laura's "hickeys" (print dot) and a bit tilted - I'm quite happy.
My head not on backwards nor is it sideways - I don't have a working photo program yet....

I'm afraid i don't know a great deal about the series , Murrays has the issue date as 1936 but the people who i purchased this off state 1955 . I would tend to go with the mid 1950's date .
The card doesn't have the feel of the 30's
I should imagine that the packs have a strong connection to the series as the card ' blurb ' is the same as is on the packs , although the picture in the middle pack looks more like a movie star portrait than from the ' Kidnapped ' series .
After a quick google there was a set issued by AA Gum in 1936 titled MGM Film Stars ZJ4-25 although i can't find any reference in my only card book , Murrays .
There was a thread on the forum a few months back .
A very early O-Pee-Chee gum box. Never heard of this brand before. There was a seller on ebay who was auctioning off an uncut sheet of O-Pee-Chee Transfers featuring animals that look very similar to the ones on the side of this box. I wonder if this box is how those transfers were sold? I am unsure of the age but i speculate late 1930's or earlier. I had to pay big for this one but it's a great box.
Anyone can feel free to copy these images for their own personal files, but if you end up publishing them in anyway (online/website/print ect.) please contact me or credit me for the images in the forum that you published on.

Mark, that wrapper really seems strongly tied to the US Caramel Presidents cards. Note the political / presidential symbols all over it. On the other hand, there don't seem to be any specific, obvious links that tie the wrapper to the sportcards, are there? At least, I didn't see anything on the cards or on the wrapper . . . . Seems kind of a stretch to associate it with the baseball cards . . . although there is still the fact that no wrapper, unique to baseball, has ever been found. And this is weird, cuz there are plenty of baseball cards! So, who knows?
Anyway, here are some images grabbed off the net, to illustrate.
First, the baseball cards:
Note that there is no reference on the baseball cards, front or back, to "American Heroes" which would parallel the wrapper:
Next, have a look at an R114 card, US Caramel Presidents card, also grabbed off the net. Note the title banner at the bottom of the front of the card: "American Heroes Caramel". Seems no doubt that this wrapper goes with the President cards.

I think the unanswered question concerns the difference between "American Heroes Caramels" and "United States Heroes Caramels." There are two distinct wrappers. Could they be from the two different sets?

(By the way, Dan has an image in the gallery of that other version of the wrapper, the one that has the title "American Heroes Caramels" rather than U.S. Heroes.)
