When I was typing "N" cards - one of my biggest problems was what example to keep of a given set - the rarest? - most aesthetically pleasing (back them there were occasional checklists but no VISUAL references like we have now in books and the gallery)? - cheapest (there were after all 600+ cards to chase at a minimum) - it seemed without end...... Then there were the availability issues - upgrades - and sometimes the price that was out of line with the cards actual significance. Some cards were just ugly. Mix in a grading element and whooo - boy. Stress

One good thing about typing before the internet was being exposed to a wide variety of styles and substance - that might serve as fodder for the next tangent. I think my collecting has now come near full circle - I'm sorta collecting while divesting - armed with more respect and knowledge - willing to concentrate on groupings over types to create my story. Realizing I can't find or keep it all has been cathartic - too much pressure collecting types.......
