These ended tonight at fairly(and deserved) high prices. I recall seeing the PSA pop reports a couple years ago and their totals indicated the blue backs are scarcer, but this is NOT the case.
pretty good clip..cards looked nice. Would have been nice to be either the buyer or seller in this case.
Have not handled or bought any of these for years. How quickly we forget about "tough" cards from the 50's
I remember it was all about those "Blue backs" back in the day when I first put this set together. Of course I did not have a lot of information then either.

this is a good thread for bill bengen, bill was after the hi # red/blue backs for awhile, i think he did complete a red back hi # set? cant remember and too lazy to check the psa registry. but i think richard is correct, the reds are tougher!!

Yes, those high # redbacks are tough, particularly #180, which is a brute of a card in high grade. I have owned two sets each of the bluebacks and redbacks. I bought about 35 redbacks as part of a large lot of WOW cards from a seller some years ago, they graded out very nicely. And I have opened cellos with high redbacks showing, what a thrill to see those cards like new!
I am pleasantly surprised to see the prices earned by those cards. In the past, I have been unable to garner such high prices for high redbacks which I sold, even those that were graded PSA-8! I am also somewhat surprised that the seller did not grade these cards. Would he have gotten more for them if he had? Or perhaps he would have gotten less!
Best in collecting, Bill Bengen
