One area of card collecting that I really love is accumulating reference material. This week I received in the mail The uber comprehensive book by John Hodge detailing Church and Dwight Soda-Box cards; The Photographic Baseball Cards of Goodwin & Company (1886-1890) by Miller, Gonsowski and Masson (I see our own Tom Boblitt mentioned in the acknowledgememts); and I picked up a copy of Murry's Cigarette Card Values at Half Price Books for $5.98. What a great time to be a card collector. The amount of information and detail that has been documented in these and other books (like the Non-Sports Bible by Watson) is truly amazing. I shouldn't exclude the Net54 gallery as Dan's contributions are equally as valuable, and equally enjoyable to scroll through time after time.
I remember reading the Sport Americana books as a kid page by page. In between issues of the Wrapper and Old Cardboard, these new books have me doing it all over again.
Thanks to all you researchers and to those willing to compile and publish this material. You rock and I salute you.

I try to remain in the shadows on my sports contributions on this side. I don't want anyone challenging my totalitarian control.........
In another life, I had a nice sports collection but decided to give it up as things became almost prohibitively expensive. Actually very happy here on the sunny side of nonsports where things are becoming almost prohibitively expensive.
