So I just listed a bunch of my Strange True Stories dupes (many of which I bought from him for close to $200 each) on E-Bay, and minutes later received this inquiry from him:
"will you take $20 apiece for your strange true stories cards. i would pay with paypal
- markps86"
To which I replied:
"I feel bad taking $20, how about $15?"
And he answered:
"send me an invoice and i ll send the paypal
do you have other cards
my paypay addreess is markps8666@yahoo.com
- markps86"
Now I'm going to lay the hammer on this moron. Beautiful.

pardon me?
How old are we?
You guys are better than that.
"STEVE" has gotten much more than he has deserved already. It is nice to get the update but to continue to kick this old horse is ,I think, beneath us.

Steve/Mark, you'd stop getting dumped on if you'd stop acting like such a doosh. I mean, come on. You're hoping that the seller doesn't know what he has and will take a ridiculously low offer -- you're effectively stealing from them, and certainly attempting to prey on ignorance of the hobby. And you're just so stupid about it. When I countered with a lower offer, didn't you think for a moment you were being put on? Classic.
Thankfully I know you're a liar and a scam artist, but what if I didn't know who you are and what I had? What you attempt to do is dispicable and black eye on the hobby.
Anyway, you opened yourself up to public ridicule again by your actions today, so don't go crying because I called you on it.

be careful on calling steve a douche bag, or any other derrogatory adjective. he must be a tough guy, only tough guys rip people off (shilling included) because someone will see him at a show one day.

I'm not sticking up for steve/markps86/boberino/etc. in any way. But I have to say I don't think this is the way to handle him or the problem with him. It's probably time to start taking the high road here.
Just imagine someone new coming to this site and reading this as their first thread. Is that the first impression we want to create? I don't think so. I believe the purpose of this site (correct me if I'm wrong Tom since you're in charge) is to give people a place to discuss our mutual interest in non-sports cards. Personal attacks, name calling, aggressive and belligerent behavior serve no purpose other than to dissuade people from joining our group. We need more members, not less, which means we need to establish a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
The whole steve issue has gone on for a long time. Just take a look at the other 100+ post thread. Maybe it's time to just ignore him or ban him from the site. If someone wants to post a message warning people not to bid on his specific items for sale on EBay, I see that as a service. It's something that's helpful to everyone and doesn't require any discussion. But continuing to bait and attack him is pointless and beneath us.

I'm sorry Mark Finn lost money to Steve. I wish there was some way for hin to get that money back, but there doesn't seem to be. I wrote to EBay and complained about Steve and I know others did too, but it doesn't seem to have done any good. Not sure it's any consolation to Mark F., but I won't buy anything from Steve ever again and I'm sure lots of other people on this board won't either so at least his loss has saved many others from the same fate. But having a warning about bad sellers be the first thing someone sees on this site makes such a negative impression. In fact, I'd like to see a sticky message at the top of the forum welcoming new people. Maybe an expanded version of something like "Come on in and enjoy the hobby of collecting non-sports cards".
I come here to have fun. I look forward to reading the posts by other collectors, especially since the people here are probably many of the biggest non-sports collectors. I've got enough potential dangers and conflicts in my life. I want my time here to be a positive experience.

c'mon ... this is why this board is so friggin sleepy and lame sometimes. this is more about joking around then attacks. actually, if steve didnt respond to this thread, it wouldnt be this long in the first place. sometimes its fun to have a bit of controversy, it creates responses, like this thread did.
i am thrilled that people have posted so much this week.
once in a while things wont be so vanilla, like life.
this is a great board, and if any new member was scared off by the use of "douche bag" in a sentence then it wasnt for them anyway.
i always laugh when i hear that phrase, i guess its high school humor. all the best

Those who read the baseball side have had similar experiences.
He has, at various times:
Sold merchandise and not shipped, to a board member.
Admitted to shilling his own auctions (His defense was that he didn't know it was wrong.)
Set up at least 5 or 6 different ebay accounts. (For who knows what purpose.)
"Sold" the same merchandise multiple times on Ebay. (After positive feedback was left for the first auction.)
Developed a close Ebay relationship with "Beth" who only seems to bid on his auctions.
Taken zero responsibility for these, and other customer service problems.
But the funniest of all is that every once in a while, he thinks there is some sort of Statute of Limitations on scamming people. He'll be relatively quiet for months, then suddenly pop back up like nothing has ever happened.
If I were a new reader of this board, I would want to know about people like this. I agree we should leave the personal attacks out, but his problems with this board go pretty deep.
Lock it? I say no. Kepp it factual. Keep it clean. But we do a service to every customer of his we drive away.

the voice of reason...........Jim VB..............
I'd agree to keep it relatively clean. Remember no anonymous posting....except for Steve of course. I do agree it serves a purpose that when he changes his alias to the Boberino99 or whatever it is this go-around, it should be posted. It's unfortunate that people like this are allowed to thrive on ebay for the simple fact that ebay needs more and more listings to continue to grow and add to their bottom line.
Among the really positive things about this site and Net54, there are also downfalls....
I can't REALLY ban a person.........I can ban an IP address but most IP addresses are dynamically created and change to a certain degree. I've got 5-6 different IP addresses in the screen for our little amigo Steve, yet he still skulks back from time to time.
And there is no way to make a specific post 'sticky'. If you frequent the baseball side of things, the new vBulletin software that they're using for the site allows both things along with much more flexibility. Net54 doesn't.
So.......we plod along as we are, generally working pretty well most of the time with the occasional hiccup. We'll take some metaphorical tums and hopefully be better in a couple days. Would be nice if the Steves would go away into the corners from which they came though...........

No, Mark, that's what made it so funny -- he had no idea who I was or that he'd sold me some of these same cards. And then he believed me when I told him his offer was too generous and asked if I could sell to him for less.
Scoring disabled. You must be logged in to score posts.
Mark just won one of my auctions and paid within hours, he also asked me to end an auction before anyone had bid,he offered me $450,I declined and the auction ended below that. He has been good as gold with me,especially when I first started. So I am not saying he is a saint, but I have had only good experiences with him.

Arron: I contacted you and alerted you to the danger of trading or selling your cards in the B/S/T before you had the cards you won in hand. You thanked me and were kind enough to follow up saying you indeed , got them.
Others , like my friend Finn got gipped. You did not. So whats your real beef? The low ball offer? Who of us in collecting has never been guilty of that one?
IMO you are wasting your time taunting a crook.
Rand: "..have him send you a money order and keep it..."
That would be wrong, dishonest and criminal.
Jim: His every move is under our microscope,we have extensive intel on him, his alias and his "buys" "attemped buys" and what he is "selling" using this term VERY loosely.
He has no doubt lost thousands of $$$ and many potential customers from this board who are the ones who would most likely buy some of that rarer material he list over and over. Also, all a man has is his name in this world...his is ruined...pretty high price for 2 bills?
Wanna march him up the hill to calvery?
Jerry: you bought from him after knowing about the Finn case. You wrote on this board that you did not feel exactly right about that.
ME: I have sold to him a number of times as he was highbidder and I must admit that I am thinking about blocking him. To take a crooks money or block? tough call?
Alan: SPOT ON " pointless and beneath us"
Mark: SPOT ON " info fine, other stuff not needed"
MARKFITZ: SPOT ON " serves no purpose"
JEFFK: SPOT ON "lowroad, lame"
JIMB: Yes...keep this info flowing to warn others
I agree....I posted anon. because I did not want any of my friends or enemies here read what I posted and forming an opinion by who the postee was.
Did not want this to snowball downhill.
I think everything here should have been posted to the existing "schwartz file" (credit Richard)
Love all of you guys, respect all of you...just think you folks are better than this.
Do the right thing.
Information yes.
Goading and spite , no.
Lastly, I hate a crook...but once I get the "best of it"...I never look back.
Lifes too short.
I would be interested in what MARK F. thanks of all this?

i am the mark arron has a beef with. i did sell him cards at his price which was hi. i did make an attemt to buy back cards on ebay at a low price. for that action arron went crazy. this is what ebay is all about. i didn t force him to buy my cards , i didn t rape his wife or murder his family i tried to make a profit on some cards. if you think i m guilt of some crime because i wanted to make a profit- then i m guilty as charged
if someone bids $1000 on one of his cards- do you think he will not accept it

You're not really guilty of a crime with Aaron.........you have all the below stuff on your 'rap' sheet. So.....you're not riding in on the white pony either......

I have no problem with someone making a profit. However, I have BIG problem with someone avoiding indirect and direct questions, attempting to hide nefarious activities including but likely not limited to committing non delivery fraud, admitted shill bidding (claiming they did not know it was wrong...huh...who raised you?), terribly opportunistic low resolution images without reverse images and in many cases knowingly deceptive descriptions. Under these circumstances, only a bad deal for the buyer is the outcome. To me this is not making a profit, it is committing outright fraud and/or theft by deception among other crimes. Maybe some TARP money can go to rid these hucksters!
Most honest, trustworthy and decent people would expect a lawsuit and/or jail time, acting in this manner. If those activities are not bad enough, you are posting on a message board that has made it perfectly clear you are not welcome under any and all circumstances. If this is incorrect, Tom, please speak up, to set the record straight. Aaron, I appreciated your post, sense or humor, chuckle and reminder. It prompted me also add the markps86 eBay ID to our blocked bidder list. If a buyer does get a deal from Steve Schwartz do not expect to receive the cards. Unless you want to be in the same position as many others including the well respected Mark Finn, run for the hills. My $.02!

that s not me my problem is only with arron. i do not have multi acct. and sometimes i bid on items without checking on the seller- this has screwed me up a couple of times
Scoring disabled. You must be logged in to score posts.
Really? Not the same. You are boberino99 (Steve Schwartz's) best customer with feedback left for 40 items going back to 2003. So many people have / had problem after problem. How is it possible each and every transaction was perfect. Sha right. With boberino99's feedback currently hovering around 97% and it used to be lower, you defied the odds / law!
Scoring disabled. You must be logged in to score posts.
why don t you check my feedback. find 1 person that can say i didn t deliver my product or didn t pay for a purchase. i ve dealt with many people with repete purchases, i prefer to do that. your saying thats a crime now. if you got nothing to do check the listings of arron. all his thrilling true story cards have a bidder with 0 feedback and only bids on his cards-talk about schilling-but i m sure you ll find a convient excuse for this

Aw, damn, you found me out! I'm sorry guys, just trying to drum up a little extra business with my auctions. I have bills to pay.
Oh wait. That was you. Someone (a fellow poster on this board) tipped me off that you had bid on all my Strange (not "Thrilling") True Stories account with a bogus account so that you could try and win the auctions, not pay and then leave negative feedback. So I canceled all those bids and blocked the account from bidding on my auctions. BTW, I canceled those bids... YESTERDAY (as the time stamp on the cancellation will attest). For sellers out there, add "kindaq1960" to the list of Mark/Steve's bogus accounts.
The best though was the message Mark/Steve sent me yesterday from yet another of his bogus accounts asking me if I'd end my auctions early and sell to him (and asking for what price), in an obvious attempt to get me to agree to sell off-line so he could come here and tell everybody about it. Sorry, Mark/Steve. So sellers, add albundypolkhigh33 as yet another bogus account for Mark/Steve.
Jeez Mark/Steve, you should have quit while you were ahead.

alan, you spent alot of time on your post.. but at the end of the day it was the right thing to do to start this topic over again. maybe douche bad shouldnt have been used, maybe some other comments were not needed, BUT it was meant to be. all the best

i m still waiting for someone to produce 1 person with proof that i either didn t deliver my products or didn t pay for items won. CHECK MY FEEDBACK
now arron is accusing me of setting up other accts so i can give him a negative feedback , THIS MAN IS EITHER SENILE OR JUST A PLAIN LIAR. i m not sure which one. if you readers wish to believe everything arron says there s nothing i can do about it, but ask yourself does it really make sense what he s been saying
again check my feedback show me 1 person i haven t treated fairly

You guys really need to leave Mark/Steve/Beth/Boberino alone. He/She/It is obviously suffering from multiple personality disorder. It is quite obvious from their posts that Mark does not even know who Steve and Beth are let alone Boberino or all the other personalities.
Are any of you physicians? Maybe you can prescribe something to help them out!

This forum isn't ' better ' because of this thread , this thread is the same as the last one that covered this topic , soon to be relegated to page 2 , then page 3 ...
this thread is boring and serves no purpose .
Almost like setting a fire to see the crowds come rushing.

Mark, with the highest level of respect i can offer with words, i think you are a terrific person. BUT you have to take this with a sense of humor, you are taking it way to seriously. again with respect... just avoid the thread if it rubs you the wrong way.
i have had at least 3 good laughs during this thread and i didnt start it.
