I just picked up a group of eleven Ripley's Believe It Or Not cards and I have absolutely no idea about them:

Front Scan:

Back Scan:

Ten of the cards are the darker olive green, like the "HUMAN BLOCKHEAD" card. One card - "OBESITY" is the lighter green shade.

Does anyone here have any information about these cards, i.e. date of issue, card co., country of origin etc.

The cards are numbered with 36 being the highest numbered card I have. Any idea of how many cards are in the set?

Any comments (Even if saying I don't know) or info. about these cards would be highly appreciated.

Nina wants to collect this set as well.

Hello to All ,

Hi Jerry ,

Is the set a specific ' Believe it or Not ' ?

In my limited view the cards look similar to the ' Crime ' , ' Killer ' type series that were released a while back .

All the Best

Mark

Ripley's Museum Issue?

My first theory is that maybe the cards were issued by one of the Ripley's BION museums as a gift store set.

I'm investigating that angle.

I'll post about any results I uncover.

Jerry,
Those are cards from a series of sets called "Human Freaks and Oddities" produced by Mother Productions in 1991 and 1992. They did 4 different series of 42 cards. Mother Productions made some of the most bizarre trading cards ever printed. While these sets have lots of examples of people also in Ripley the majority are just plain strange. The sets even come with an "Intended For Adults Only" warning as many of the images are disturbing and there is some nudity. 1st series cards are orange, 2nd series are dark green, 3rd series are light green, and 4th series are a wine red color. Here are samples of the cards and boxes:
