Tom, the site you sent me to was Zina Saunders site (Norm's daughter) but it didn't have the information I was looking for. Thanks anyway for that lead. I will contact Todd and popculture401 and see if they can help but I still need input from any collector out there that has 'lots' of Mars Attacks or remembers how they were distributed in 1962.

Hi Bill.. Not exactly sure what you're looking for, but have vivid memories of keeping my checklist card in shirt pocket when going to school, buying pack(s) daily at corner candy store, and checking them off til set was done. Later traded set in '63 to other kid in building in first of many, many poor trade decisions.
47 years later and still have want lists in my shirt pocket.

This also may not be much help (I love the checklist in the pocket comment, by the way) but it's my one and only Mars Attacks story. In the summer of '98 or '99, I had just gotten onto eBay and saw that a pawn shop in Florida had a complete set minus one card (#2) up for auction. The cards were decent, probably PSA 5 for the most part. I only knew about the set because I was working on a book about the Civil War and wondered if there was a set of cards about the Civil War. A little hunting led me to Civil War News which led me to Mars Attacks (and Battle) due to Norm Saunders. Anyway, the Mars Attacks cards looked cool so I scanned eBay and found this auction. I had no idea what the going rate was so I threw out a bid of $350 and won the near set for $330. The under bidder was Mark Finn, the first time I had seen his name. I checked out his profile and saw that he had a lot of auctions going himself, under the banner "Getting out of the 60's". I emailed him and asked if he might happen to have a Mars Attacks #2. He did and was nice enough to sell it to me cheap. I ended up buying some other stuff from Mark back in those Wild West days of eBay. So, my entire preoccupation with Mars Attacks lasted about a week...I had a complete set and moved on to other adventures.

Thanks so far to all. Mike, did you buy the cards in wax or cellophane packs? Chuck, great story and cool one including Mark Finn. Still need more help.

Hey Tom,
That is not my site. That belongs to a fellow by the name of Bernie Mertes. Another Mars Attacks enthusiast. My site is:http://www.non-sport.com/mars/ . I doubt you will get much from it. It was primarily a checklist of known Mars Attacks items including many items from the movie. I never got around to adding pictures or details (just not enough hours in the day for that).
I personally have no first hand knowledge of the original cards. Just what I have gleaned in my pursuit of finishing my set. My primary observation is they have NEVER been cheap (relatively speaking - for example when Chuck picked up his set for $350.00 he could have probably gotten a complete set of Civil War News with currency for $100.00, etc.)

Hi Bill. Definitely wrappers. Only remember few sets that came in cellophane as would scan every pack in box for packs with top/bottom cards I needed. 1960's cherry-picking.
