Check this out Ebay No. 200346732318 (Sorry I don't know how to post a link) PSA Graded 1977 Topps Star War Set, No. 6 on the Registry, sold for $5,105.55. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!

With 330 cards and a set rating of 9.02 MINT+, $15.47 per card seems rather reasonable, considering grading fees and the time involved. This set was the #1 set holders 2nd set...his insane #1 set currently has a 9.852 rating!

Good point David. Sometimes it helps to break the total cost down per card. With grading fees running a minimum of $6 or $7 with shipping, a per card cost of $8 seems very reasonable. Although that same $5000 would have bought a lot more value in cards from the 1930s or 1940s in my opinion.
One phenomenon I've noticed lately is that people are unwilling to pay much for PSA 6s in many sets, despite the fact that 6s are fairly nice cards and in some sets are even high-grade cards, while they will pay a lot more for raw cards that are obviously lower grades than a 6. This makes no sense of course, since they could just unslab a 6 if they want a raw card, but it does seem to illustrate how resistant some people are to the grading companies.

If you consider $5105 reasonable for the Star Wars set- and I am not arguing it isn't-how about buying my slightly superior Star Wars set for the same price? Any takers?

Bill, there was an underbidder who went to $5,055 or thereabouts. He's probably steamed he lost. I bet he may get great satisfaction to one-up the high bidder by paying $5,500 or so.
Set that as your minimum and see what happens.

Eric, I appreciate the suggestion, I will probably do that. In the past, I would have contacted the bidder directly, but now ebay does not permit that, as identities are closely guarded.
I wonder how many board participants are collectors of this set? And what infomation you might have about the obscene variation on card #207- did they catch the perpetrator?

set of all (5) series plus stickers. I won (5) complete sets with stickers in an old Ron Oser auction for $300-$400 and sold the other 4 for about $150 each, kept one. Still have it 10 years or so later. I'm sure some would grade 8's or 9's maybe as they were likely pulled from packs. For that set, I don't see grading though. Just my opinion. There will always be the popularity of that specific set though for people to work on high grade sets. Too popular.........
I bought packs and was 10 years old when SW came out. As for #207, interesting card....someone at Topps was asleep at the old editing wheel, huh?

regarding #207 I have always thought this was much ado about nothing. I mean, yes..it is funny..but for PSA to stop grading it or the hype it gets when offered up in high grade..is going a little too far.
Maybe Viagra could use this card in one of their commercials instead of a lame group of middle aged guys who just happen to be sitting around musical instruments and start singing "viva....
Makes me sad to be in this demographic.

The green Star Wars cards were the first cards that I ever pulled from packs back when I was a kid. I love these cards.
It is my opinion that the non-obscene #207 is ten times harder to find than the obscene version. This has always been my experience; I have not seen anything that has made me believe otherwise. I have, however been wrong before.

Seriously, the corrected version is much tougher as they didn't print as much of that one as the first one. It also has twice the demand as the error card because anyone trying to complete the set wants to sell the "error" card by itself so needs the corrected to "fill the hole" in the set. (maybe I shouldn't have phrased it that way in lieu of the above posts!)
