Not to put down your cards, they look great. But how does PSA grade? I thought PSA wouldn't grade anything cut out or torn out with a higher grade than authentic. But that doesn't seem to be applied equally. Can someone explain how they decide which handcut items get a grade and which do not?

Hand Cut or Torn

PSA grades cards both hand cut cards and cards that are perforated. Most strip cards, like the ones pictured here, are torn (separated) from perforated strips. If you look closely at the scans you can see the perforations on both sides of the cards. It's like tearing apart a row of stamps. However, other strip cards don't have perforations, sets like Nightmare Of Warfare and War Scenes, so the only way to separate these cards from each other was/is to cut them. Actually, you could tear them apart but it would be messy and leave you with irregular pieces, like tearing apart any piece of cardboard. The PSA label for these usually states "Hand Cut" on it. Check out item #200342440792 on EBay for an example.

One of the things I love about strip cards are the perforations. It adds one more factor to corners, centering, color, etc. when considering how to grade a card, but I think cards with nice perforations look super.

Are the Buymore Treasure Island cards the same as the Parkhurst Treasure Island Cards, I know the Parkhurst are bilingual but is it the same set?

I believe it's the same set. I have several of the Grant Products cards and they are the same fronts.

The Man versus Bird card is very scarey.

psa & centering?

i am not a psa submitter, but i thought they took centering as a focal point on grading. maybe its the scans, but a couple of those cards graded psa 6 look to barely have a border? am i wrong?

Alan W - awesome cards. Great job on the first sub and keep them coming!

Rand - both SGC and PSA take centering into account. Because there is no qualifier listed on the holder doesn't mean the grade wasn't reduced for the centering issue. When I submit I always request "no qualifiers" on the holder.

I only "join" PSA every 4 years or so - it usually takes me that long to get a large enough submission. Nearing this closure window; I sent in my Flag Midgee set. With the exception of a few that PSA broke the perforations, nearly all the set graded at least a 7:

Mark,

Quick question about the Flag Midgee set. Did Topps distribute that in multiple ways. I still have the ones I collected as a kid (although I was 8, and don't remember buying them.) Most of mine show no perforations on any side.
