I vividly remember collecting Civil War News and Batman cards as a boy (and a whole load of others), here in Scotland, but somehow Mars Attacks passed either me or the whole of Scotland by. Only much later did I learn about Mars Attacks and the controversies surrounding those particular cards. As a professional film journalist, this is a set that has a particular interest for me. I love the story and artwork and all the lore around it, particularly the story of the "unpublished" set, an abortive attempt to tone down the images. I am currently selling my spare set on eBay (details in BST, with a link to a Wrapper article), but I thought people might appreciate seeing a few of the cards.
Sorry, I can't work out why I can't get the pictures to appear here. I have managed to get them onto Photobucket... But all I am managing to do on the webpage dialog is create something called a votelet. Oh well, that's an hour wasted... time to move on... Now I am getting a message when I try to upload to the temp area that it is not a recognised file format, such as jpeg, but it is a jpeg. OK, I surrender. What I did on eBay was put some of the toned-down cards alongside the originals. Anyone interested will find them on ebay.co.uk, and they will still be there after the auction closes on Sunday. I was going to put up some individual cards, but never mind.

I went over to Ebay UK and did not see your Mars Attack set. Perhaps it is closed. Should we assume that yours
are the Topps ABC variety ? I seem to recall that they were a little bigger than the Bubbles set.
These went right by me as a kid, too. I still have my original Civil War News set that I got in a trade when I was 11. I was at the mercy of the corner mom and pop store where I bought my other gum cards and if they didn't carry it, that was that.
