My Next Project

I managed to finish two sets in the past week & am contemplating what my next project should be. Right now the two front runners are:

1. Mickey Mouse & The Movies Stars (The set Marianka wants)

2. Sea Raiders, both low & high Nos. (The set I want).

Any comments, suggestions or alternatives?

I love going after the hardest to find stuff. There is a certain synergy when you go after multiple tough sets simultaneously.

Not ready to start anything new right now, just doing some research.

Despite rumours to the contrary the two finished sets are not the ICarly & Jonas Master sets Marianka just completed.

Edited to correct spelling.

Chuck I'll go bankrupt trying to do that.

Marianka's US Caramel President's set is complete except for the McKinley card. She has been searching for it as obsessively as I am for my tough cards.

If she finds it I'll have to take out a mortage on my house to pay for it.

well jerry, i would suggest to avoid the sea raiders for the mere fact i am also working on the set. i have about 1/3rd of the highs and a complete low set. i am actually working on a second low set. that would be my selfish opinion of course. the demand for decent cards is very strong.

i am not familiar with the other set you are contemplating, so i would hands down go after that one.

there's my two cents, though the cards cost alot more!

If I go with what is available or not on Ebay I have to go with Marianka's choice, you don't see them very often, especially high grade ones.

Jerry, you've certainly got great taste! (Your daughter, too.)

Those two sets are tremendous selections . . . and after watching you rip through Ripley's BION highs and Uncle Sam Home Defense high sets in record time, I'll forego warnings noting how "this set is impossible, etc etc etc".

There DO seem to be some Sea Raiders high cards out there, so it's gonna mainly be a matter of whether you'll be willing to pay the price. Judging from your energy displayed on Ripley/USHD, I'll put the under/over on you completing Sea Raiders 1-48 at 18 months! happy.gif

But for MM&MS, I just don't think the cards are out there to assemble a set. Strays have been picked up and probably the majority of these are already within a few partial or completed sets. And for the strays you are able to locate, it'll also be a matter of whether you are willing to pay the price. Expect to start at $200 a card for even moderate condition specimens. Under/over on this set, if you truly build it (rather than buy a completed set)? Hmmm. 5 years?

I'm just playing here, so by all means go for what your heart tells you . . . and show us once again, what a determined man and his daughter can accomplish!!!
