Be Carefull What You Wish For

Based on previous threads, I believe that virtually all of us would like our children to have the same passion for collecting that we do. Marianka spends several hours with me every week going through her & my card collection. We both enjoy the time we spend doing this.

But an uglier side of her collecting desire has arisen. My 14 year old daughter has decided to also collect Webkinz Plush Dolls. At first I didn't mind and picked up a few here & there.

Check out Ebay No. 140289318551 - A complete set of 263 Webkinz Dolls with a BIN of $5399.00. For the past day or so she has been nagging me to buy it for her, telling me it'll be a "GREAT INVESTMENT". I try to tell her what happened with Beanie Babies but she doesn't want to listen to that.

Of course I'm not going to buy it, but the travails of dealing with a determined teenaged female collector can be daunting.

Yes, but it is Free Shipping.

Don't worry I've been through that with my daughter a few years ago.

Rand - Marianka already has an extensive list of chores she is required to do. Her current allowance is $15.00 per week & she currently has a straight A avg. in her Grade 8 Middle School.

When it comes to collecting Marianka is getting very good at Buying & Selling (She uses my Ebay account under my supervision). Her 30's R cards number over 200 plus she has 3 PSA sets going (Jungle Gum, US Caramel Presidents & Tootsie Circus - again under my name). She has made several hundred bucks in profit, over the past year, and has used the proceeds to buy more cards.

This has made her very cocky, argumentative & know it all. Right now Marianka thinks she knows how everything should be done & that is my current difficulty.

Plus her older brother is in NC finishing up his bachelor's & Nina attends a private 5 day Boarding School, so no older mitigating sibling influence exists.

Tough being a single Dad to a Know-It-All teen daughter.

Always hope , never wish .

You get 3 wishes but hopes never end .

Jerry, you are truly blessed!

Instead of working her way through high school and college with part-time and summer jobs at the mall, maybe Marianka can continue to progress and start dealing vintage non-sport cards in volume. It's been done before.

(I guess this is where the Hugh Joneses of the world come from!)
And we'll all be able to say, "We knew her when . . ." happy.gif
