Rand,

Looking at the bidder list, I can see me, Mark Finn and Dan McKee were in on this . . .

I do still believe the Doolittle 144 is the second toughest card in the set, after the Wehner 144.

So, really . . . this great item, under the radar???

You tend to underestimate us, Little Grasshopper!

i won the card, i was wondering who was under my bid, i think its Dan, but not sure. i really thought the card would slip under the radar because the listing did not show up under skybirds or sky birds search. i tripped over it when i looked under national chicle. the last time i saw a Doolittle on ebay in the same condition (sgc 60/5) i lost out on the card to Randy Stuckemeyer - he paid $305 about 2 1/2 years ago. i have never seen one in higher grade for sale. i think its interesting that the card sold for the same amount. the reason i wanted to know about the underbidder is the card is not important to me if it cannot get crossed to sgc. so i was going to offer it to the underbidder if it doesnt cross.

*** i bought a psa 5 # 25 wehner s144 earlier this summer, card was a beauty. would not cross to sgc. the card is so nice i didnt care about taking a lessor grade, came back a 50 (one full grade lower) after i examined it closer there was a light surface crease that warranted the downgrade.

i had an informal question/pole about who owned # 25 & # 32 in s144 .. how many, what condition. i now have 2 #25's & 3 #32's. really tough to find in higher condition.

None of my business, but I thought you were selling off your set. Did you find a way around that little problem. I know how much it meant to you.

i did sell the set. it sucked to pack it up and send it off. i only sold my basic set, i kept my series 144s. i have every intention to rebuild the set next year. it has been a tough road upgrading my series 144s, two reasons...finding upgrades & getting them crossed from psa to sgc. over 4 years i have not seen a better #32 s144 than ex (5) i have seen two examples one in sgc and this one is psa. both wound up selling for the same $300+.

Rand, oops, I forgot about your new, second eBay account!

So, anyway, okay:  here's how it went down.

A nice balanced feeling to all this, with Rand starting out the bidding at the low end, but then ending up with on top at the end/   (My bid turned out to be just a cheapie, lost in the middle.)      happy.gif
