I just bought my mom a refurbished Acorn 1¢ gumball machine (the same as in the ad on the left) for her recent birthday. I did a little research into charms of the era but didn't come across any mention of these comic strips; I wonder if they were relatively unpopular.

Geoff,
I still have my charms from 1954 - 1960 or so and I never saw the Comic Strips. The machines were Acorn as I recognize their logo. We did have products with names on them and records with titles on both sides etc. but not the fancy comics that are shown.

R783 They came inside those small plastic bubbles with a clip on them.
