Hi all,
I just got through chatting with GARY WEATHERHEAD earlier and found out that he is having some health issues which is forcing him to step back from cards for a while.

A couple of you already know about this. I think it is important for us (NET54) as a smaller group on the web to keep up with and know about each other's trials and "be there" for one another. Thus, this post.

Though we are not "close"...I have bought and sold to Gary a few times over the years always without problem and also see his contributions to the gallery.
A dedicated Net54 non sports member.

Like Ted said, Charley. I like to think that we here on the board are a large (sometimes dysfunctional) family so it's much appreciated when we look out for each other...thank you.

(When you were an active dealer in The Wrapper, lo about 20 years ago, you sold me a Crockett Orange set, which I enjoyed immensely! Thanks again for that, a mere two decades later. Am sure you'll beat this thing, so we'll be looking forward to seeing you again soon, back in full force, here in Card City.)

A sincere thank You and bless you for your kind wishes. Now that I am living alone and cannot take care of my daughter(now 17 and becoming more beautiful with each passing year.) your kind thoughts really mean a great deal to me and you have my sincere thanks and promise that I will do my best to beat this thing.

I was going through some old ebay screen names the other night and noticed Gary's was unregistered...this seemed to me a "bad" sign. So I put it on my "to do" list.
Well, here we are this AM and confirmation. I can't believe this has not been mentioned or did I miss this?

If you will look back at the old pages,posts,gallery...you will see his dedication to NET54. I think he should be added to the list of the others who have passed on.

It seems he lasted just a month after this initial post.

MYRTLE BEACH - Gary Alan Weatherhead, age 52, died Monday, November 1, 2010 at his home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Gary was born in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, January 31, 1958, to Alan and Eileen Weatherhead.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science from McMaster University in Canada, Gary moved south to Louisiana where he met and married, Mary Brien Weatherhead. The couple relocated to Columbia, SC in 1986, where Gary attended the USC School of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor in 1990. He enjoyed working for legal aid programs in both the Florence and Columbia areas of the state. Helping others brought him much satisfaction.

Gary was an enthusiastic collector of sports and non-sports cards and memorabilia. He was also an avid reader of all things non-fiction, especially unsolved true crime. From childhood, Gary frequently used his telescope to gaze into night sky; it was perhaps his favorite hobby.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Brien Weatherhead, and their two children, Trevor and Caitlin Weatherhead; also by his parents, Alan and Eileen Weatherhead and his sister, Sandra Weatherhead of Burlington, Ontario, Canada. He will remain close to their hearts and alive in their memories.

Private interment will be held Saturday, November 20, at 2:00 p.m. in Hillcrest Cemetery, in Conway, SC.
