Hey all, as usual good stuff! I love the color on this one, it is the same subject I have on a larger advertising card that has Caporal across the top. Was this another Kinney brand of cigarettes?

I bought these at a local flea mkt recently, but am not sure if they are part of a set of cards, or just small photos. someone put numbers in pencil on the back from 1 to 11. I have enjoyed the pickups shown in Dec, very cool.

Ken, Great pickups! I'm intrigued by your Independence album. Can you tell if it was related to a product as a premium?

Todd, like the Rail Road album that was the same as the Kellogg's Presidents album ( which you show in your Dec. pickups post )this album was issued by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. This one has only nine different stamps.
1 - Thomas Jefferson, 2 - Benjamin Franklin, 3 - John Adams,
4 - Caesar Rodney, 5 - Richard Henry Lee, 6 - John Hancock,
7 - Robert Morris, 8 - James Wilson and 9 - George Wythe

An issue I couldn't find in the gallery - can anyone provide more information about this Brach's "Famous Pirates" series?

I'm a big fan of pirate stuff but that Long Ben looks a little "dandy" if you catch my drift. Who holds a gun like that?

Now that you mention it, that reference to "fantastic booty" is a little unsettling. Shiver me timbers...

A fan of Pirates

No score for this post
December 20 2012, 11:37 AM

to Rick, Dan & others
I to am a fan. Two books that are a good read on the subject.

Pirates on the Chesapeake - 1985 - Don Shomette - 338 page

Buccaneers of America - 1973 - Re-print Folio Society - 194 page
a re-print of a 1890's true account of Pirates of the Spanish Main

I have allways wished that someone made a true to life movie of pirates or
the era. Disney Treasure Island invented many of the pirate ideas/phrases that we use today.
