This is the first time that I think I've had something worthy to post in the pick-ups section.

Clinton - That wrapper is WAY WORTHY!!!

Mark - I was doing some digging last night and came up with the same bit of info. Thanks for posting. What I liked best was the display of cards with the WRAPPER. - Jack J.

Here's a better/complete image of the wrapper that I had on file. Wish I had the wrapper.

Re: OCTOBER PICK-UPS

I went to a paper show over the weekend and found two packets of movie star cards that appear to be from the 1950s. The flyer was in one of the envelopes. Also shown is one of the envelopes and cards of George Reeves and Jackie Gleason. Overall I ended up with 154 different plus a bunch of dupes. They are on paper similar to a 1950s picture pack and about the size of a Kashin from the 1920s. I understand the issuer may have as many as 2000 cards. Lots available to sell or trade.

Not your mainstream but they are hard to find nevertheless. This give me some trade (I only needed 11 and 35) I'm now down to missing 13 cards to complete this set.

Boxingcardman, I have some of the Sunset Fan Club cards and envelope packed away some place.
What I like about yours is the name of the person that they were mailed to.

Well Dan, to quote the prophet Henry Moses, "likely if was as big as a house, painted it with stripes, and smelled like a gopher - a couple of times a year someone would still post a thread on the main page. Human nature."

Today's gets

October 5 2014, 8:53 PM

Bought two more of the T56 Emblem Series I needed for the set from ephemerac on eBay. Also got these at the Iron Gargoyle Antique Mall in Navarre, FL, where I sell some tobacco, sports, and postcards in one of the glass cases.

German Macaroni trade cards? Don't know anything about them, but the graphics and condition were nice. Paid $3 each.

Very old photograph that I guess was mailed with a blue two-cent George Washington denoted "U.S.Inter.Rev Proprietary". Think it may be from the 1860s or 1870s. Only cost $2. Not bad.

Let me know if the pictures don't show up.

not a mailing stamp. It's an IRS stamp "proprietary" which was a short lived tax on photographs in the 1860's. Similar types of stamps were later used on playing cards for the same reason. BTW - as to your T51's question in another thread - Rhys answered it quite well. Upcoming week I will look for a couple extra T51's I have laying around as I prepare to list - shouldn't be more than a few days.....
