Ginter. I believe that's a small sized trade card - not an actual fan right?

Wow Todd - I wasn't aware of the Red Barn Space Set. Good tactic to keep it off the radar until you completed the set. Congratulations. - Jack J.

Jack,
Sadly it wasn't too under the radar as I had to pay 3 times as much as the others sold for!

Jack,
I updated the Red Barn Space Cards in the database if you want to check them out.

PS: There is supposed to be some passport associated with this set. I'd love see what that looks like.

Todd - Great looking space set. The art is very similar to that which you would find on space toy boxes from that era. Thanks - Jack J.

Been kind of a lean month for me. Here are a few items. I'm glad to get a couple more "Life of George Washington" bread cards to add to the collection. The Flint's Coffee card looks like it should be a bread card. I don't know if the Laugh-In Ring wrapper came with any gum or candy, but the graphics were so evocative of the time that I just couldn't resist. - Jack J.

I spotted this Burdick stamp in a T113 auction lot on ebay a few weeks ago ... might have been from January actually... Better late than never. I'm much better at reading this forum than contributing and I'm trying to change that happy.gif Too bad most of the "Jeff B" is damaged, but still fun to find.

More Packs, Coupons, and Cards

I was the beneficiary of Tom B. thinning out his "extras", picking up an SF Hess Poker Hand (N323 - Type B) to go with a redemption coupon that explains the rules.

[linked image]

Moving to Duke, I was able to pick up booklet #5 (N92) listing merchants in NY City that would honor the 5% discount coupon found in each pack of Dukes cigarettes (for a portion of 1889). Again, thanks to Tom B.

[linked image]

I was also able to add more cigarette packs from Tim B. and Jeff F. The Mutual Tobacco Co's "Pioneer" pack is pretty neat with metal ends that double as a match strike.

Wow, great stuff for everyone this month! Chris, love the Burdick find. Todd, I've never even seen a Famous Comics card/box in real life. Jack, I don't think the "Laugh-In" rings came with gum, but I don't know if I actually read that at some point or if I just always assumed. Daniel... what can I say? Soldiers of the World... Wischmann's Airplanes... War Gum... save some for the rest of us!

After all that, here are my meager pickups for the month.

R.L. Albert Comic Jig-Saw Puzzles. I went from wanting one for type to having all but three known to exist in one fell swoop. (I purchased another one separately not seen here. And thanks to Todd, again, for helping me figure out the known checklist.)

Jack,
I too like those Washington cards! I never seem to find them myself. Also, you are lucky I didn't see that Laugh-In wrapper! It is very cool!

Thanks to Jason, I managed to snag a few more of the Albert cards myself...

Some other recent pickups...

[linked image]

[linked image]

Here is my favorite recent pickup. Like the Men of Apollo XI and Men of the Old West I believe this is another uncatalogued Dietzen's bread issue called "Historical Moments. Does anyone have any different of these?

Some weekend pickups...

Getting closer on my Action in Korea set...
[linked image]

Thought this was interesting since Chris had just been talking about the Vernon Grant Kellogg's issues..

[linked image]

The bottom right corner item folds out to advertise the Mother Goose backs on the boxes..
[linked image]

[linked image]

[linked image]

I liked the graphics on this "Swell Bubble Gum Cigars" box...

[linked image]

[linked image]

[linked image]

Large size "War" Dixie lids...
[linked image]

The animal card is the Harry Horne version (NO, not Hairy Horn variation)...
[linked image]

These don't have markings but I believe they are from Lion Coffee. Some of the stencil designs are quite elaborate..
[linked image]

This was a collection that was in 2 one inch binders (there was a bunch of lesser stuff I didn't photograph). It has to the most eclectic group of cards I have ever seen!
