I've been wanting one of these for a long time!
I think this one is about the nicest condition of the few that I've seen pictures of.

Is that the one that popped up on eBay three weeks ago? Figured a board member here would get it. Congrats!

Yes, this came from eBay. It would have been seen by more people if it had been in a different category.

Besides being repainted, is that the original clock and night stick?

I've ever heard of one with the original clock. They were cheaply made - I have a little info buried somewhere......
Why do you think the billy club is wrong?

I've seen 3-4 of these and they all seem to have that same finish. I believe it could be the original finish/patina.........JMO........

This IS the original paint and nightstick. The person I got it from has a clock repair shop; he restored the clock to running condition. It has a beautiful porcelain face with beveled glass crystal.

Based on other examples the paint is more than likely original. I question the nightstick as placement is typically seen mid-fist with a clearly defined bottom end. Clock brand and face examples vary widely. A couple supporting links below.

I'm pretty sure this is the original paint. The night stick and clock, however, are additions I added.

The baton is not a "later addition". It was the identical paint and is still fitted tightly in the clenched fist. The baton is seen to be of metal when tapped. It is also perfectly and beautifully proportioned. A look at the tin sign for Gold Coin tobacco advertises this clock, and shows the figure of the officer with the same baton as on this clock. had one of these signs at a past national - maybe this is even the same one. I passed because of the condition and because Buchner is not a core to my collection. MY statue has the original metal club but all the paint is gone on the statue's surface. The clocks themselves are simple and inexpensive and similar to other stand up advertising with one - they are most always replacements......

Buchner's Prizes

All of the clocks are beautiful, in fact I'd love to own one. I was wondering if
anyone ever saw any of the other prizes? For instance the "Stem Winding Watch" or
the Gilt Framed Picture - "Landing of Columbus" or the Book "Defenders and Offenders"?
I would love to see any of these prizes. Has anyone seen any of them? Thank you. tm
