Do you have to burn the fallen soldier Wrapper magazine like an old U.S. Flag? Taps playing softly in the background...........................

Alan,
It was just a long time collector. They don't visit this board (as far as I know).

Those cards are cut versions of the Battle stamp panels seen at the bottom of the 11th picture from the bottom.

Tom - That would be appropriate. I was wondering what to do with the old copy. I'd do it today, but the fire risk here in So. Calif. is way high and I don't want to risk it. Maybe in a few days. - Jack J.

Thought this "Invisible Picture" "Wonder Spots of the World" card in its original envelope with brush was interesting. Maybe I'm the first to pull it out of the envelope. - Jack J.

Mark, in-line images or not, that's some nice stuff! Do you have a story on the acquisition of the uncut fun pack sheet? That's a "find" in my book!

Mark, "Holy Sheet!" That is one great uncut sheet!

A few recent pickups...

I got these together. The dealer wanted way more for the dial than I wanted to pay so he threw in the 1943 Cracker Jack card for free.

Complete Coca-Puffs cereal set. I don't think I had ever seen a complete set for sale before..

These look like some sort of premium pin. Anyone know where they came from?

Almost a whole set of "Smart Cards" (Thanks Sharon!!! I now only need 13, 14, 29, 37, 51, 53, 64, 127, 133, 148 to finish the set)...

Uncut Sheet

Mark:
What is the story behind that sheet you got? If you know the background, I would love to hear how three different sets, from 1956, 1964 and 1967 got printed on a single sheet. That is a great looking find.

Uncut sheet...

...still trying to use this sheet to gather info. It comes from an issue that has a lot of us confused; namely, the Topps Fun Paks of 1968 (or maybe 1967). The salmon backed Target Moon dates to 1968 and is complete on the sheet (44 cards with salmon backs as opposed to the 88 cards of the '50s blue back set). The Who Am I (originally issued in 1967 with scratch-off coating) were re-issued without coating and the Hot Rods are also '67 or '68. I don't have enough info to even speculate on how these Fun Paks were run, since, although the Target Moon set is complete, the other two sets are incomplete and include some double prints. I managed to find this thing mis-titled on ebay; I don't know how I found it, but I'm glad I did.

I think there are some more learned experts regarding the Fun Paks on this board than myself. The traditional thinking on Fun Paks suggests recycling overstocked cards, but that doesn't seem to be the case with these three sets.

I just picked up most of a set of western movie star cards from France, issued in about 1930 by Krema. Among the cards in the set are at least 7 cards of a very young John Wayne, the earliest cards I know of him. The John Wayne cards are from a film called "The Big Trail" which was released in 1930, one of Wayne's earliest films. I heard it was Wayne's 110th birthday this past week.

I especially like card #12 with Wayne making a fist, looking like he's about to punch someone. "Somebody oughta belt you in the mouth. But I won't. But I won't. The hell I won't."

A few more pickups...

These are actually newer. They picked 44 random cards from the 1966 Batman cards and included them as a boxed set in a limited edition DVD of the TV series. They all have the same backs.

I thought this was neat. It came on the cereal box back but opens up to show more cut-outs...

Finally been able to win a few wrappers (since Jack already has them - HA!!)...
