Hi Everyone,

It's that time of year where the REA Fall Auction has kicked off, and this installment features more than 170 nonsports lots from the 1880s through the 1980s. Highlighting the auction is an incredible complete 1932 US Caramel Presidents set including the rare McKinley as well as a near-complete set of N288 Buchner Police Inspectors. There's plenty of N and T sets, some great uncut sheets and unopened packs/boxes, and lots of great original artwork from a number of different sets.

The auction ends Sunday October 29. If you'd like to bid, you can visithttps://bid.robertedwardauctions.com/lots/gallery?category=65 to go directly to the nonsports lots.

If you want to receive a free catalog, you can fill out a request form athttp://www.robertedwardauctions.com/about/contact.php?action=catalog.

Looking forward to another great auction. Thank you and good luck to all who participate!

Brian

First thing I'm gonna do when I buy that Mckinley card is take it out of that silly holder.
Card is off center but looks great otherwise. Certainly not a POOR.

With all the cards being cancelled, one would assume they were originally assembled and redeemed for a box of chocolates. I find it interesting that only McKinley and Buchanan were punched. I can understand McKinley as it was distributed in very limited quantities, but is Buchanan harder to find? Can you imagine anyone sending a McKinley card away for a box of chocolates? - Jack J.

Note from the current owner

Jim Van Brunt is the current owner. He would comment on it but he can't login until he gets home from a trip but sent me the following info:

I would chime in and clear up some of that confusion on the McKinley if:

1. The site let me log in.
2. The site responded to my Password Reset request.
3. The search function worked.

Until these things happen...,

It's the same card.
It was NEVER red. It was color "corrected" by Mastro/Legendary way back in 2003.
It's been crossed from PSA to SGC, back to PSA, and finally, back to SGC, by me. I wanted the whole set in the same holder.
So, whatever the combined pop reports show, this is 4 of them!
Lastly, side by side comparison, it is far superior to the SGC 60 from a couple of years ago, except, of course, this one is stamped and punched.

Also, we've discussed this on the board before

Thanks Tom.

That must have been weird to purchase a red McKinley in 2003 and then receive an orange one.

Ed,

It's ALWAYS been Orange to me, and even back in 2003, the copy said Orange, but the picture was Red. I don't have that old Mastro Catalog, but I suspect that. since the rest of the set is Red that the printer shot it for the book and just color corrected it so it matched the others.

I don't think I've ever seen a McKinley that wasn't Orange. (Except the fantasy ones!) The two that came to market about 3 years ago were both Orange. I think Dan's is Orange. (I could be wrong, but I think he said that at some point.) This one has certainly always been Orange.

Also, because of the crossovers, I think the population is overstated. As I said, I know this one is counted 4 times. (2 PSA and 2 SGC.) Of course, I added to that once by crossing it to SGC 5+ years ago. I made a very brief attempt at the time to get the 2 PSA ones deleted, but got no reponse and gave up quickly. I asked SGC to send in the label to PSA and also delete the old one in their file. Neither thing happened, and I didn't follow up.

Huh?

Looks like McKinley may have gone through a bit of a blue period as well.

This is intended for comic relief purposes only! Now back to figuring out my max bid...
