Response to Need info on PPS and bariatric surgery

Dear Laura,

I am a polio survivor with PPS from the 1952 epidemic. I have no education concerning the bariatric surgery, but I recently saw a true documentary on obesity and how people weighing hundreds (ei: 500 lb,600 lb,800 lb, and 1200 lb) lost weight. The 1200 lb person lost 500 lbs in a year with the Zone diet-naturally healthy foods. From what I have learned from the book "The Polio Paradox", by Richard L.Bruno, H.D., Ph.D. polio survivors, esp. those with PPS should be careful of surgeries, esp. those which can be avoided. Please read the book, if you haven't and research the book, "The Schwarzbein Principle", by Diana Schwarzbein, M.D. and Nancy Deville. It is the truth about losing weight, being healthy and feeling younger. I love the foods, they are easy and it is supposed to balance your hormones, lifestyle, etc. It is worth a try. I have been big on alternative medicine, vitamins & supplements for about 10 yrs. & I think it has helped me to have fewer PPS symptoms when I exercise a modified lifestyle, which is hard. It has been difficult to find an alternative physician in my town, so I have grabbed at a lot of things unsuccessfully & expensively. Good luck with your research & weight loss. If you believe in God, He is the one who can give you the strength to do what you need to do. If you do not know Him, He will give you the peace of mind to live a happier, fuller life.
