Having taken a step back and spending a bit of time to think I can honestly say my mind was trying for two different looks at the same time.... hence the confused rendition!
I realise that the chipping is a bit much - it looks uncontrolled due to me rushing it. Lesson learnt - take my time and do one or two panels at a time
I will be going back into the paint shed with it very soon and try out the very helpful advice that I have received as feed back
I still have spare paint in a few jars and will do some additional airbrushing with the green and the white wash.

Time for a cuppa tea to settle the nerves and then get back to work on it
