I know, I know, it's been a long time, but I have finally made some headway on this. The front area will be marsh.

Nice work

Hi John
Really nice work. Very subtle and convincing weathering. I always feel sorry for the poor KV-2, it's always modelled in sorry scenarios like this!!!

Thanks David. Yes it does seem the KV-II get a bad rap, but this IS their natural environment!

Bogged down Beast

April 26 2010, 12:03 PM

John,

Good work on the scene layout. At this point I do not know what would fit better, a couple of russian tankers bailing out or a couple of german inspectors taking a look the disabled beast (ala Manel Arin style). The decission is yours.

Keep us posted amigo. wink.gif

John I'd make the mud wet

April 26 2010, 3:59 PM

or semi gloss, I'd also play around with a few shades of brown (looks to momo-tone) and lastly may be a stream infront?.....figgys are a must for this also

AOK!

April 26 2010, 6:21 PM

Hi Luke,

Thanks for the suggestions! I just completed the first pour of Envirotex for the marsh, stinky stuff, smells like cat urine. I agree the mud needs to be damper, and I think I need bigger piles at the rear of the tracks. As to figs as Lu said, Germans or Russians - not sure yet!

Tamiya Clear...

April 27 2010, 3:46 PM

In various viscosities works very well to make dry mud look moist. Takes a while to build up, but this can be helpful in not "killing" the surface.

I'm most impressed....

April 26 2010, 9:28 PM

...by the jigsaw cutting on your base edges!!!!! Just kiddin' with ya!

Fun idea, John. My only suggestions would fall along the same lines as what Luke has already mentioned...just needs some moisture.

Rock on.

More Progress

April 27 2010, 7:58 PM

Added some more mud and the 2nd pour of envirotex. No I haven't tinted the dirt yet, but I will I promise.

I tinted the envirotex with Tamiya clears till I got a muddy greenish, brownish, brackish water color.

Hi Dom,

I have been working the figs out slowly. Sculpting is not my favorite pastime, I would much rather convert and use resin head, I just haven't found what I want yet!
