First, thanks for creating so much great information on putting. I have known about your site for a number of years, but for whatever reason have never ventured into the forum. What a wealth of information and terrific resource you have created.
I have gone to the gravity drop several times over the past several years, and for whatever reason, seem to drop it shortly after I start, which is surprising since I am always amazed when I use it how much better I putt with it, particularly with weight. I think the problem might be getting inconsistent with short putts when I take it to the course, which causes me to revert to controlling the putter, which results in the old problems we all suffer with from time to time. I recently came across the gravity drop on your site, which inspired me to try it again. What your information added, that I had not heard of or thought about before, was thinking of moving the shoulders at the same pace as the arms and club. What a difference that makes. Nor had I considered ensuring the continuation of the shoulders after impact to allow the stroke to complete to the finish.
As I practice this stroke, I find a consistent pattern to my bad strokes, . . . they are almost all short, with a few long. For the short putts, I think it is caused by some form of resistance in the downswing, although that is clearly not my intent. On the putts that are long, I actually think I have hit the best putts, technically, as they feel very free and released, and typically go on the path I intended. What I am finding it difficult to do is to sync my shoulder with the arms and the club, without either adding or reducing the natural momentum.
Any other suggestions of how I can create better timing and balance in the movement of my shoulders with the putter?
