Dear Alex,
My most sincere apologies! I think I have created a very bad impression and would like to correct it immediately.
I haven't gotten a copy of Langer's book yet. The reason I suspect it does not add much to putting lore is from the fact that it is hard to get, and it is only a very RARE golf instruction book that actually contains much of fundamental interest.
This is not at all to say I don't respect Bernhard Langer. Actually, I very much like him as a person, a role model, a golfer, and a putter. In fact, he probably ranks with Bobby Jones and Payne Stewart and Walter Hagen and a very select few others that I truly admire both as golfers and as people.
With respect to his putting, I certainly admire how he overcame the yips. And I am very much aware of how well he is putting these days, and note this in the gallery section. I don't see a lot in his technique that I would recommend to golfers in general, though, because of his special circumstances. If Langer has ever talked or written about targeting, though, I would be very keen to see what he has to say!
Incidentally, I hope you can see from my website that I am a big proponent of INTERNATIONAL golf, not limiting the golf universe just to US pros!
I hope you understand how very anxious I am to set things right with you!
Cheesr!
