Just read the excellent "new" article featured on your homepage entitled HAROLD SWASH'S PUTTING TECHNIQUE--New article hot off the press! A must read for anyone interested in putting. Hopefully, folks will take my title, "The Putting Edge-How To One-Putt Every Green!" a little more serious now as Harold Swash, Europe's Putting Doctor, did one-putt every green on two occasions! He had only 18 putts for two rounds of golf and on six other occasions completed 18 holes with only 19 putts...amazing statistics! True, he may have chipped some shots within tap-in range for his one-putt, but his feats are truly amazing.
Another interesting aspect of the article was that Harold Swash mentioned that his dad was a serious snooker player and if anyone is familiar with the true game of snooker, it is quite difficult as compared to regulation pool as the holes and balls are much smaller and I believe it demands more accuracy, for that reason. That's my personal opinion, as some pool players may disagree. Mr. Swash does mention that his dad's snooker was comparable to American pool; however, the point is that Mr. Swash went on to suggest that his dad never played golf, but was able to explain to Harold how some snooker techniques could be applied to putting. Specifically the forward, topspin roll in snooker could be applied to the golf ball, and in his opinion the technique would create accuracy. Mr. Swash went on to say that the sooner this technique is understood, the sooner one will putt better. I found this 'snooker to golf analogy' to be very interesting as I consider myself an excellent putter and played the game of snooker for many years as a teen and young adult before taking up golf. It would be interesting to find out how many really good putters learned to play pool or snooker first, then took up golf. Or vice-versa?
