Gerald, to substantiate and support Geoff's take on uphill putts versus downhill putts, one typically hits the uphill putt with a little firmer and harder stroke, thus taking some of the break out of the putt. And, when hitting a downhill putt, one tends to 'baby' the putt to the hole, so-to-speak, so as not to go too far past if you miss the putt...this usually results in a target line that would be a little wider than normal.
