Jeff Lindner and John Cranston of
Balance Certified Golf are pals of mine. We have had numerous conversations about putting and physics, especially the physics of vibrations. The gist of the pro-Balance system is that there is a "node" in the shaft where impact-induced vibrations cancel out, and this node is typically located about 2 inches above the end of the grip material. This is not an optimal location, and the Pro-Balance system uses weight in the end of the grip to relocate the node up the handle into the golfer's hands. Then impact feels very solid. It probably doesn't hurt that the total overall weight of the putter is marginally increased, too, as this helps keep the hands "heavy" and "low" and "inactive."
