Why does Pro-Balance from Balance Certified Golf work ?

First off, I have been a single digit (3 or less) golfer for some 20 years and the one part of my game that has allways given me problems is consistant putting. I have done it all from short putters, belly putters (which I use now), and even a long putter. I feel more comforable with an Anser style putter that is 44 1/2, but getting the ball in the hole is another story.

My question to you Geoff is why hasn't this Pro-balance weight system been more popular or even thought of before? It is a weight system that puts back weights the grip. I promise I am not selling anything to anybody, PERIOD! I just want to know why this system with back weights works so well at quitening my hands.

I was given some different size weights to put on the end of my putter and then told to go and try some strokes. Heck, I had to borrow a putter as I had given up on the standard length putter. It was so impressed, that I am having the sysem installed with a 90 gram wt. in my putter grip on one of my old Anser putters. Heck, if this continues to work, I may even go back to my normal putter.

I know you guys are going to think I am selling this system, but I am just a golf nut how has allways needed help with his putting!! Sure wished you lived closer Geoff!

Here's an Explanatory Article

January 21 2004, 7:28 PM

Jeff Lindner and John Cranston of Balance Certified Golf are pals of mine. We have had numerous conversations about putting and physics, especially the physics of vibrations. The gist of the pro-Balance system is that there is a "node" in the shaft where impact-induced vibrations cancel out, and this node is typically located about 2 inches above the end of the grip material. This is not an optimal location, and the Pro-Balance system uses weight in the end of the grip to relocate the node up the handle into the golfer's hands. Then impact feels very solid. It probably doesn't hurt that the total overall weight of the putter is marginally increased, too, as this helps keep the hands "heavy" and "low" and "inactive."

Here's a good explanation of how the system works for putters and other clubs:

The Science of Feel: Balance Certified's Pro-Balance System.

By the way, where do you live? I get around....

Cheers!

Geoff,
Thanks for your responce. I live just above Tallahassee, Flordia. I do travel some, however, I just do not get in your neck of the woods---to often. I got up this morning and hit a few more putts and rolled the ball so well. I cannot wait to get to the course this afternoon and really put this to a test. It is so easy to roll the ball on line now. But as you know Geoff, no matter what you do to improve you putting you have to be able to take it to the course! That's the real test. I will keep you informed.

Geoff,

One more thing I forgot to mention. I have been using the Pelz Teacher prongs to work on my consistancy with striking the center or sweet spot on the putter face for a long time. I decided to really put this weight change in my putter grip to a test this morning. I went and got the Super-pro prongs and attached to the putter face. I started out cold and went 10 for 10 on a six foot putt. I fouled one off to the right (I allways seem to miss toward the heel of the putter) and then hit 12 in a row. Man this feels so solid. Got to go to work!
