More on the Two Ball & the InPutt Aid

Geoff,

I saw my friend at the course yesterday and asked whether he could tell me more about using the second ball on this putter as the alignment guide. He did not remember who had told him about this. He did remember that the person said to look at the three balls as a unit - that would include the two balls on the putter and the real ball - when you are putting. The third ball would then be centered over the dominant eye in most people. I tried this and it does result in a different experience. More flow through the ball.

Second - I got the In Putt. Really great. For the first time in my life I was hitting putts with an absolutely square club face. The roll was professional. But using the In Putt has also helped in other ways. It has allowed me to rest my hands on the club with more appropriate pressure. The left hand sits on top of the grip and the right hand is now out of the stroke entirely except for feeling the the drop of the club.

I am not doing very good job of describing this. Let me just say the you could cut off my right thumb and I wouldn't know the difference as it is no longer "yanking" the club back. What freedom.

When I take the training wheels off, the practice with the In Putt transfers overs nicely to my stroke. Not quite the same roll but solid contact, enormously increased confidence and deader hands - that is, hands that can feel becuase they are not being unruly.

One more thing: In-Putt is teachihg me speed by basically eliminating one of the main variables involved in putting - that is, keeping the club face dead on. As I practice with it, my attention can go to speed.

Again, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I don't thik I would have found it without your help.

Best,
pep
