Plop Putter

Geoff,

I just bought a Plop putter on ebay. For $17 (shipping included) this seems like a steal. You had mentioned the plain center shafted putters worked well. I bought a TaylorMade TPI 25, but I am not a fan of inserts. I like the feel of the ball coming off metal so I thought I would give the plop a try.

I wanted to check the balance of the Plop putter for face balancing. I balanced it on my finger and the toe was pointing down. I then re-balanced it and it showed to be face balanced. Then I tried to see if I could get the heel to face downward and it did. Am I crazy or is this a perfectly balanced putter?

I tried it out yesterday for about an hour on the practice green and really like it. It is obviously a lot different from the Bobby Grace Fat Lady Swings Mallet. I am going to give it a try and see if it stays in the bag. Thanks for the advice.

By the way your help on tempo has really improved my putting. I am eliminating most three putts. One every round is better than three. Although my tempo is better, I still need to work on it. I have been tracking my putts and I have cut my putts from 34-36 down to an average of 32.5 putts per round. Not great, but in the right direction.

Aim is the next key area. I saw your June 22nd response to Bastiaan and the four steps for aiming. This is what I am working on now. I have been tracking my shots from 75 yards and in and I am averaging a little less than three strokes per hole, actually about 50 shots inside 75 yards including putts. If I am going to score, this is where it needs to happen. The problem is that in a number of situations during the round, I will get the shot inside 20 feet of the hole and I am not making a lot of the putts, and really not even giving the putt a chance. My aim seems to be off. I am going to build the four steps into my routine and see if it helps.

Thanks!!!
