Not a Mallet...Not a Blade???

I have an older Teardrop TD Select 49 Rollface putter:

http://valueguide.pga.com/detail.php?brand=2764&product_type=206&model=44647

It is not a mallet and it is not a blade...it's what some of the companies call "a blade putter with a wide flange."

From the overhead view it seems to be the - “I’m going to start out looking like a blade, but no I’m going to extend to a mallet, but on second thought I’ll end about have way back and throw a little curve on the edge of my backside,” type putter.

Putters such as: Ping G60, Odyssey White Hot #4, Odyssey DFX 9900, TM Rossa Lemans (which looks pretty cool because the head is similar to my Teardrop and it seems to have a neck that looks like a midslant similar to my Scotty), Cobra Townsville, etc.

From a lot of what I've read in the past it seems that, "blades are made for an arc type stroke" and "mallets are made for a straight back/straight through stroke."

For what type of stroke are putters, such as my Teardrop and others mentioned above, made?

Are they good for either type or neither type of stroke?

Just curious because you never hear these putters mentioned much....it always seems to be a blade or a mallet that comes up in conversations.

Thanks.

Benjamin
