Modern Hickory-Shafted Putters

February 4 2005, 8:26 AM

Dear Tom,

Here are some leads for you:

BOOK - Pete Georgiady's Wood Shafted Golf Club Value Guide, 2000 by Peter Geogiady

This page in my website has some other leads, e.g., Jeff Ellis and Chuck Furjanic.

These companies from my main new putters page appear to make hickory-shafted (and other wood-shafted) replica or modern putters, including corporate gift putters:

Avanti-Elite (corporate gift)

Aristocrat Golf Clubs

Bamboo Putters from Kane Klassics

Bobby Jones Replica Calamity Jane Putter

Celtic Custom Clubs - Blackthorn shafted putters

Heritage Golf George Nicoll GEM Putter

Hickory Shop Putters (gift)

Angus MacKay Clubmakers, Ltd. -Engraved Hickory Shaft Wooden Putters (gift)

Old World Hickory Putters
(dead link)

Pegasus Hickory Shaft Golf Putters

Putter Promotions' Old World Hickory Putters (gifts)
(dead link)

Swilken St Andrews

Tom Morris Long-Nose Putter replica

Wild Mountain Golf Putters & Gifts

Wooden Touch Putters - Finland

There are doubtless others. I am aware of about three companies that make wooden putterheads, with standard metal shafts.

Blackthorn Irish Putters:

I hope this helps.

Cheers!

Wooden Putters

Look for Otey Crisman II. Son of tour pro, club maker Otey Crisman. He did live in Selma, Alabama about 6 years ago. He was run out of business by his workers joining a union. The factory was in back of the family's house. He told me the complete history of the Otey Crisman Putters his dad created. He sold the manufacturing rights to a company in New Jersey. They were on the internet for a while, I can't seem to find that company anymore. Otey Jr. can make the putters himself just for pleasure. He reshafted mine for $38 shipping included. Good luck.

Dear Tom - I have a "bobby locke" wooden putter, circa about 1987, I think it was made by Nicolls of Scotland. Still in use.
Trying at moment to find new leather cover for handle.
