A guy told me about a drill that helps distance control. He said to look at the hole while making the stroke. He said it promotes "feel" What do you think?

Looking at the hole

I have used this as a practice aid, and if I had more confidence in making solid contact with the ball would use it on the course. And I do use it sometimes on very tricky 10-15' downhillers.

If you practice that way a lot, it can be a reasonably effective way to calibrate your lag putts. Take your practice stroke looking at the hole (just like you in practice). Then duplicate that stroke. This isn't my normal technique, but I switch to it sometimes when my distance feel is worse than normal (which isn't good).

I might be wrong but I think Johnny Miller used this method on a whim for his low round (63 or so) U.S. Open win. He said a "voice" told him to try it on the practice green and he took it to the course.
