I have a question for Geoff (and anyone else who cares to chime in here).
I often use what I call "The Real Claw Grip" when practicing my putting. To do this just take a normal LH (for righties) grip on your putter and place your RH forefinger across the top of the putter grip just below the LH. The remaining fingers/thumb of your RH dangle or whatever you want - they don't touch the club. Demarco's Claw should be properly called "The Claws"
I have a difficult time keeping my RH out of the putting stroke (IOW my hands want a role in putting no matter how hard I try to maintain a shoulder driven stroke). With only one RH finger making contact with the club you have most definitely taken the RH out of the equation. I need that contact for tactile feedback to my right shoulder or else all hell breaks loose. I've had enough success with this that I sometimes use it on the course.
I recall Geoff not long ago (can't recall where) saying that The Claw and similar odd grips are simply a crutch to get around weaknesses in getting to a true shoulder driven stroke. For those of us with hands that insist on an unwanted role in putting, do you see a problem in using such a crutch on the course?
Thanks.
