Cutting down Belly Putters and reshaftingApril 16 2006 at 2:31 PM | rgegolf from IP address 200.88.54.64 |
| Dear Geoff, I was using a Scotty Mid Sur Stainless Belly Putter with a shaft of 43 inches. What I liked most of the putter was the excellent feeling of the clubhead and the pendulum stroke. Somehow however I was not getting accostumed to the Belly putter and decided to cut it down to 35 inches (big mistake!). I think the putter (with a head of 375 grams) lost the soft feeling that had with the long shaft and now it is heavy (which I like) but without the "buttery" feeling that it had before. Also I miss the Belly putting stroke.
My question is what are the recommended methods to get the putter again to at least 40 inches. Do you recommend reshafting? Adding an extender up to 40 inches (this method was suggested at Golfsmith but I am afraid that as it is a extender it will not have the same feeling) or lastly buy a new Belly putter?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
