Dear Jason,
I have talked about these grips recently in this
Post. The grips are new, but I doubt the setup posture of level shoulders is new. Many early golfers have experimented with setup postures, including Leo Diegel, who poked both elbows out sideways in a setup that resulted in level shoulders.
But I have not seen earlier golfers using naturally hanging arms and hands with thumbs side-by-side and shoulders level except on rare occasion.
I don't really look to "world class players" as the model of excellence, however, as these golfers (especially today) are not particularly mindfull or adventurous in setup or grip in the sense of boldly seeking out what works better that what the herd uses. Still, I think golfers trained by Harold Swash tend to have shoulders that are closer to level than most.
Cheers!
