Putter Length and Lie -- Thanks Geoff

Geoff,

Being new to the site, I have browsed quickly through the various sections of your vast site on putting. I had considered getting a new putter, and I read with interest your article "Long and Short of Putter Lngth and Lie" -- http://puttingzone.com/MyTips/lengthlie.html -- and I followed your advice. I got fitted for a short putter, changed the lie to 72.25 from 71, and had a relatively large grip put on. I got it home last night and fiddled with the "new" putter while I watched the Tiger game. For the first time, I could feel the pendulum stroke you describe -- and I saved money! While my experience has been limited to the family room carpet, I am encouraged to say the least.

Thanks for your willingness to share your expertise. I would encourage the forum readers to give the aricle's advise a try or buy an inexpensive putter and cut it down to size.

Thanks.

Bill

Keep Us Posted

Dear Bill,

Thanks for the feedback. How about keeping us posted on any differences you notice as your experience accumulates? I'd be interested to hear more about the grip and also exactly what sort of putter you have, and a little about the fitting process you went thru.

Cheers!

I am game

HDCP : 11.6
Long game HDCP: 11
Putting: 18

Ok.

I am 5'9 1/2"

Your formula showed me using a putter 28 3/4" lie at 76 degrees.

Qroll putters made me a Qroll IV, 29" @ 72 degrees.

WOW, I feel way bent over! When I look at you in your on-line videos you look much more up right then me. My back is almost flat! Now its sore right were the cervical meets lumbar.

I changed my grip to your preferred http://www.network54.com/Forum/52812/thread/1049566470/last-1049566722/Grip+Form+and+Missing+Low

I also just ordered 1 ebook, 2 cd's

I don't know 29" seems really short from my old 34" forward press.

Am I missing something 29"?

you in your on-line videos you look much more up right then me?

Do not bend form the hips and /or lower back as much to get your gaze correct...Geoff uses an excessive amount of forward bend from the neck and upper thorax...That will not hurt your back in the least..unless you fall asleep there:)

If you think putter fitting is Length, Lie, and Loft...You're 30% correct!!!

Putter Length is not fit for comfort..but rather for Proximity to the ball...as it corresponds with Lie...Loft depends on many variable..such as Impact clubshaft lean, rise angle, and height of the Impact Spot....

Geoff...the book rocks!!!
