I was introduced to your method/philosophy of putting through the Golf Smarter podcast. I see that you had a few podcasts of your own. Are there any plans to continue/resume the Putting Zone Podcasts?

Some topics I would like to see (your opinions or take on the following):

Types of putters and whether they make a difference based upon your techniques
MOI - is it necessary in putters
High yield putting drills
Etc

Dear Titaniummd,

Yes, I just finished recording a 45 minute podcast for Fred Greene and GolfSmarter a few minutes ago (not sure of air date). We covered your first suggestion.

How about continuing with your suggestions by filling in the "etc."

Cheers!

Well here are some things I see just reading the message boards.

1 Different putter weights depending upon the speed of the green.
2 Carrying two different putters.
3 Your opinion of the different putters coming out on the market such as adjustable weighting, lie angle, or other tweaks by the consumer.
4 Recommendations on choosing a putter, based upon which hand/eye is dominant and to add onto that - the 'style of putting' whether one is right or left hand dominant.
5 Heel versus center shafted putters and the effects of the different putter necks on putting.
6 Do you think graphite shafts will ever make it to the putter industry?
7 Your opinion on the trend to supersized putter grips like the ones that KJ Choi supposedly uses.
8 How often to change putting styles or putters for that matter.
9 Which ball do you feel is optimal for more accurate putting / perceived feel? Do you recommend gloves when putting or not?
10 Is there a set of "Myths to putting" in your mind?

Aim

Achieving pendulum action - obviously a misunderstood concept.

Shaft length. How to measure what's correct for oneself.

Putter face - grooves, orientation of grooves, inserts.

Head weight (I just saw an infomercial for the Heavy Putter).

Balance - face balanced vs. whatever.

Lie. When I let the putter rest on the ground, should it face the target? Every putter I have (a couple of two-balls, a Natural Golf "Thing", and a Dana Quigley Rife) flare open a bit when i rest them on the ground.

Carpet putting vs. putting on real greens.

How to read nearly-flat greens.

Alignment lines on the ball.

Is the Check-Go worth the trouble?

String line. Does the putter need to be aligned on the string line all the way back, even on long putts?

If the ball pops upwards on impact, what to do? (If I were using my Rife putter, why did this happen?).

Slicing putts. Timothy Winey claims that almost everyone slices their putts.

Ball-strikers' neck.

Putting rhythm vs. pitching-rhythm vs. full-swing rhythm.

Captain Beefheart.

Ball speed.

Practice-round cheating. If you miss a putt, how to tell what the correct read should have been (without delaying the game too much).

Practice-round cheating. Where to lay the flagstick to give yourself an unfair, but instructive, advantage?

Proper ball-mark repair.

Why it is preferable to miss above the hole.

Is there any way to practice breaking putts indoors (without annoying your spouse too much)?

Why are dogs frightened of balls putted on hardwood floors?

Keeping your head down (aka not looking up too early) vs. seeing how your putt rolled (esp. if it missed - so that you learn something).

Trying to sink long putts vs. trying to lag them. Psychology.

Swing thoughts.

Yoga, pilates actions / thoughts. Clear-keys, etc.

Dimples. Wouldn't a smooth ball roll truer? Half of our shots are putts, so why don't we just use a smooth ball?

Putting across tiers.

From the fringe. When to use a putter. How to compensate?

Chipping. When I chip with a 6i, should I grip it as low as I grip my putter? Should I use the same gravity+instinct technique? Should I treat my 6i as a lofted putter, or as something else?

Balance. What should I feel? What should I be cognizant of?

17" past the hole.

Taking the break out of putts.

Laser aids.

Winey's Torpedo putter.

Sucking when the pressure is on. What happens? How to counteract?

If you fix a ball-mark on your line (or anywhere else, before you putt out), is that not (illegal) "testing the green"? If you use a ball marker that has a pin that is pressed into the ground, is that not (illegal) "testing the green"?

Plumb bobbing. Explain. Myth or useful?

Alignment (aim) techniques.

Using one's hands as blinders. Looking at the green from green-level.

Is it legal to use the under-the-pupil-salute in competition? The pirate's telescope?

Where to stand to read a putt.

Reading a putt vs. reading a green.

Gaining information from other people's putts (and your own missed putts).

Side-saddle putting.
