Byron Nelson Classic

What a fantastic sudden death finish in last Sunday's final round, especially the tee shots of both Robert Damron and Scott Verplank on hole #17. They weren't shy at all about going at the flagstick, over water, at about 170 yards...and they did this 3 times in the final round on Sunday, once during regular play and twice during the sudden death holes as they had to play #17 two times. What made their tee shots even more incredible was that the pin placement was positioned about 18-20 feet from the edge of the lake. Their putting was fabulous and I did notice that Damron was using a SeeMore putter, I do believe, the same that Payne Stewart used in his last U. S. Open. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this, Geoff. At first sight, I thought he was using a Matzie Black Magic putter, that I believe Geoff uses...a cut down version as he puts it, but noticed later in some close-ups that it was the SeeMore. It has a very distinctive black painted shaft of about 6-8 inches up from the putter blade. It was a very intertaining sudden death and both golfers played superbly!

Site to see pros' club brands

May 15 2001, 9:21 PM

Dear larry,

Every winner on the PGA, SPGA, LPGA, and Buy.com Tours has their complete equipment specifications listed shortly thereafter at the site called ProsPlay.com:

http://www.prosplay.com/event_list.cfm?tour_id=1

The listing for Damron and the Byron nelson Classic has not been posted yet, two days after the event, but will probably be osted in another day or two. You can also look up specific players, if they are winners, or look up specific brands or events. A similar listing for winners is at the GolfOnline.com equipment section and the Golf Channel.

Cheers!

Site You Mention

Correcto-Mundo Geoff...

ProsPlay.com that you recommended did have Damron's equipment listed and they didn't waste time posting the information. Another valuable site recommendation by the PuttingZone...terrific stuff!

Thanks again.

Compaq Classic

June 5 2001, 5:14 PM

Geoff

Thanks for telling me about the ProsPlay site that identifies the equipment that the pro's use...great site. However, David Toms, the winner of the recent Compaq Classic doesn't list the putter he used! I know that you will have the answer...a legal problem maybe, or have I overlooked something. It looked almost like one of the newest SeeMore's, but was difficult to really identify on television.

Regards,
Larry Stanley
