About the Opportunity:
We are looking for a talented individual to fill the role of Applications Engineer supporting our Product Test Group in Billerica, MA or Wayne, NJ. In this position you will be a part of a team representing Sypris Test & Measurement by providing customer service and technical expertise to meet our customer's testing specifications. You will be responsible for evaluating customer requirements and developing technical application solutions for the customer. You will also play a role in new Business Development by conducting market research and providing the technical support required to bring new technical services to market.

Position Responsibilities:
-Plans, designs, and develops technical application solutions to achieve Sypris and customer requirements.
Reviews test requirements and analyze lab’s ability to perform tests.
-Develop methods to perform specialty testing and write software code for units under test.
-Develop new testing capabilities and perform introductory training of new capabilities to sales, external customers and users of the technology.
-Define and qualify new business development programs and projects.
-Responsible for pre-sale and post-sale support to customers, including equipment demonstrations.
Observe and monitor products under test.
-Review collected data (charts, plots, spreadsheets, etc.) to ensure accuracy and write test plans, reports, and related documentation.
-Remain current on industry technology standards to maintain competitive edge.
-Assist with the performance of testing as required.
-May be required to participate in trade shows and seminars and other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements:
-U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident Status required.
-BSME, BSEE, BSMET degree required.
-ISTA, ASTM, TTA, IEST training courses preferred.
-Minimum of 10 years experience in the product testing field.
-Minimum of 3 years experience in application engineering.
-In-depth knowledge of vibration, shock, environmental and package testing.
-Demonstrated Project Management skills including the ability to develop strategies & tactics required to complete projects on time and within budget.
-Excellent presentation skills and the ability to manage several initiatives and projects simultaneously.
-Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook), generic CAD, and Visual Basic.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Exceptional customer service skills.
-Demonstrated ability to work independently & autonomously.
-Ability to lift 30 – 50lbs.
