| Softness
White
Warmth
Pulsing
A flutter
Shadows
Swimming across the walls
Fresh snow melting on my tongue
Sunlight
Spilling out from behind the clouds
Wet greens
The up-swell as a wind gathers
To carry all we are
Away
Lightness
Fingers knotted
Skin
Familiar
Simple joys
Surf
Churning
A last
Breath
Held
There are memories still tucked within
Crackling at the seams
Pale blue sparks
Your eyes
A distance
Yet to
Travel
Spread wide
Against
A rushing
Current
Of
Fireflies
Out in
A
Darkened
Field
As the daylight
Crawls from your shoulders
With the hesitation
Of my lips
& there are so many things
I would rush to say
If all we had was this morning
For as long as the tides kept rolling in
& washing over our feet
Cold
With a start
First
Breath
Strength fading
With one last surge
To overcome
Wash the years from my face
Run your fingers
Among these hillsides dressed in a sea of autumn flowers
Wading through a conversation
Waiting
To hear the sound
Of your voice
Echo off these walls
With a shudder
We
Raise
These
Towers
& shed the worst of things
Which have kept us from moving
On
Excuses
Keeping us from saying
What it is
We need to say
I have
Remembered
The lines
Of your face
Buried inside
You
Is a
Hope
That will never
Fade
Away
